So I’m starting to understand the review bombing a bit…
Okay I’m not gonna be like that. My apologies.
I am however at a bit of a loss. I love D2, but the technical issues are making the game more trouble to play than its worth, and I’m running out of steam when it comes to trying things to fix it. Here’s a list of things plaguing the game for me so far:
#1 - CONTROLLER = BLACK SCREEN: I’m normally all about the clicking, but I feel the controller just beats the 2000 style K&B controls, ESPECIALLY for a leveling Hammeradin. Problem is, pressing A and interacting with ANYTHING on my controller (just an old 360 controller) freezes my computer, before closing D2R after like 20 seconds. I’ve also tried on a PS4 controller, same issue.
#2 - INVERTED COLORS IN FULLSCREEN: I’ve had this issue with a handful of other games, but simply disabling “Fullscreen Optimization” has resolved it. That’s not the case with D2R. Nothing I’ve tried has gotten rid of this, I’ve even turned FS optimization on-and-off with other games (FFXIV, Risk of Rain 2, Path of Exile etc.) to make sure it wasn’t a widespread issue but alas, disabling FS optimization manages to solve the problem for every other game.
#3 - LOCKED OUT OF CHARACTER: Fortunately, this one appears to have subsided, and am imagining it was related to the whole “being online while maintenance happens” thing. It would just boot me every time I tried to start a game. Annoying, and it COULD happen again, but appears to no longer be an issue.
If anybody has any advice when it comes to solving the controller and / or full screen issue, that would be greatly appreciated. At a bit of a loss.
Hope all of these technical issues get resolved, because the quality of the remaster seems to be there. But its just not fun when you spend more time trying to get it to work than actually playing it, and I think a lot of people are currently in that camp.
