Hello everyone, I would like to know if you are going to change the immunities in hell mode when you play alone. I think it’s an aspect that ruins the gaming experience when you’re playing alone.
They will not. Also - this makes the game extra-hardcore and this is good.
It doesn’t make the game more difficult, it makes it unplayable. When playing in a group it is easier to deal with immunities because there are many different sources of damage, but when playing alone it just doesn’t make sense.
It makes it more difficult. It’s very playable and lots of ways to get around it. It forces you to play a build that doesn’t focus on one thing. This is what D2 originally had, and they will not change this. You can always just not play the game if it bothers you that much.
Is it viable to create a sorceress of fire and ice xDD? The way to avoid it is to spend days looking for runes and choose a very specific mercenary so that he will kill all the immune monsters in front of you while you are still doing nothing, how fun. And this is repeated in many areas of the game.
I love the difficulty, but I’m talking about the gameplay.
Forb(fireball+frozenorb) or Meteorb(meteor+frozenorb) are pretty common builds that hybid this yes.
I like keeping immunes personally.
Actually, it’s very viable to make a cold/fire sorc. Go try out a Orb/Fireball sorc and you’ll get through. Go buy a lower resist wand from a vendor in nightmare. That will help you out loads as well.
You are clearly very new to this game, or you’ve played for a couple hours in the past 10 years and think you know plenty, but you don’t. lol
It won’t take you days to find runes to make an Insight for your merc. You will get them in a couple Nightmare Countess runs. You do not even need a merc, though. He’s a big help, but not needed.
When you play in a group because a group of monsters do not have immunities to everything knowing that there are many people with different types of damage?
I sincerely believe that the issue of immunities playing alone is very unbalanced. You have to do a lot of juggling to be able to move slowly through zones. It makes many buildings unviable and many mercenaries useless.
But don’t listen to me, I’m just a newbie
There’s no way they will change this. The entire game is balanced around it. Some builds are good at some things, others are good at other things.
If you take away monster immunities then any character can do anything and everything and the 20+ years of fine balance is ruined.
What?
This is the only reason why people actually have to make tough calls and decisions. Every single char has options to deal with that.
Your 100% cold sorc has immunes. So???
I legitimately have no idea what you are saying. I do not understand this.
I just told you a simple solution to a problem you are facing, and you still don’t want to accept it.
Welcome to Diablo 2.
I am not saying that immunities are removed. But they condition many important elements of the game. I think it should be checked only
You don’t need to experience 100% of a game. If some mechanics are hard for someone, and he can’t play on hell difficulty because of it - it’s ok, then he doesn’t need to. Games shouldn’t be changed just because some people do not have access to 100% of the content. We do not change Matisse or Picasso paintings just because some people don’t get it. Diablo 2 is a piece of art too, embrace it as it is.
When you play in a group, do monsters with immunities appear to all elements to prevent that handicap in your favor?
As I recall it, immunities was introduced with patch 1.10. I prior patches you could build a character with only one type of damage, and still be able to kill every mob.
It was a massive change when it was introduced in 1.10, and the game was played in years before without the immunities.
I’m not arguing for weather or not it’s better for the game, but the above posts seems to state that immunities was always part of D2. It was not!
Players today are properly much better at playing the game, so the extra difficulty is needed, but I for one understand where Akathos are comming from, as I enjoyed the versions prior to 1.10 much more than what the game evolved into.
The immune system is so balanced that if you play as a couple it is no longer difficult. What a difficult system XD. Stop venerating the game, it is a piece of art, there is no doubt about that.
If the immunity system was balanced, when you play in a group the monsters should have immunity to everything!
( Sorry for my English )
Nope. You alone must have much harder gameplay than playing coop, it’s just logically right.
While what you’re saying is correct about immunities not always being a thing, it’s a bit misleading. Patch 1.10 was released in 2003. That was 18 years years ago, since then immunities have been a core part the game along with runewords and synergies.
It’s a stretch to say people enjoy the immunities, even the people defending them probably don’t love it when they have to deal with a pack of cold immunes as a blizzard sorc. It’s a frustrating roadblock that you need to face sometimes to progress, but after all this time it doesn’t feel like Diablo II without immunities to me. They add to the experience and challenge of the game.
With how divisive the community is on topics like these, I can’t see them changing anything so significant. That said Diablo II is incredibly difficult for new players(see Duriel lol) so I wonder if they’ll introduce anything to help ease the new players into the game.
There is also an in-game solution that allows talent respec through the Token system.
For a Sorceress, you can very easily farm a few Token and use them to go lightning for countess runs, then respec to Meteor for Meph runs, then back to Blizzard build for Cows. Or whatever. At least until you get Conviction on your Merc and then go with your favorite build.
Do lower resistance wands break immunities? Can’t recall.
Or simply ignore the mob that you cant kill.
All of these are perfectly viable methods to the immunity annoyance.
