Monster Density - Feature Request

OK so just take a glance at this Mrllamasc video:

I realize that 45X may not be the right balance/challenge… but I think this could be so interesting!

It could be interesting to see this density increased from normal to nightmare and then again from Nightmare to hell and even further into the terror Zone.

It just looks fun and super challenging.

Corpse explode would be fun in this

awful d3 stuff, give the game unlimited power increase options - so no one can feel like they have truly beaten it

Density increase does not make the game more challenging, if anything it will make it easier.
Most builds with an AoE will kill faster due to higher density thus gaining more experience and drops.
Some builds like all assassin and necro builds will use corpse explosion / death sentry thus only really needing the first kill to easily destroy screens.
So basically only a few melee builds will have increased difficulty, all the top builds will get a field day.

Indeedy. In order for density to make anything more difficult it would need to be coupled not only with increased monster power but dynamic changes like affixes randomly across monsters wherever, and not just for champion/elite/uniques.

First, I’m not watching a Lamma video.
There are a lot of people that actually play through the game… and don’t just get rushed/twinked (I think those are the terms).
Making difficulty/density harder than what it already is will make the game impossible for those players.
Try building a melee class from the start all the way through without/rush/twink and tell me there are not challenges and road blocks.
If people choose to play OP classes/builds/mercs and the game is too easy, well, that is a choice.
My Zeal/Fanta Pally at lvl96 with Act1 merc still finds plenty of reason to retreat/regroup… or simply run away.
My Dual Dream Pally at lvl99… not so much.
Both are plenty fun for different reasons.

Yup. Increased density would only make the current meta even stronger and the non-meta builds worse.

Instead, I would rather see improved drop rates from tougher monsters. Why does a weak Demon Imp have the same drop rate as a Siege Beast? Tough, but low density monsters should have a chance to drop 2 items.

Obvious that you know nothing about Llama. This was pretty obscure and off-base content a weird mod or play through from like 2 years ago.

I want to say like eighty to eighty-five per-cent of his content is playing through the game solo self found with new and interesting challenges and builds in the fastest way possible.

Everyone is spot on though, density alone won’t work and player skills and mob effects would need rework too.

Lets put that Standard of Heroes to use.

“The monsters of Sanctuary are enraged by the sight of the Standard you carry. Their damage, health and numbers have increased.”

Functions like a charm. +12.5% to health, damage and density of monsters if in inventory, the only exception being no density increase for Unique, Super Unique and Boss monsters.

If 8 players are in the game, it would equal double damage, health and density for most monsters.

/jams 40 of them into my inventory

(joking of course… only 31 because I need room for Torch, Anni, TP Tome, and Cube  )

Oh yeah, only one can be active per person.

I like this idea!

Great way to increase exp on trash mobs, increase rune drops and finally do something with that item!

Maybe it could also have an increased agro radius that attracts monsters to you? Similar to bone wall/prison

Thanks. Don’t get too excited though, because it has exactly zero chance of happening.

The Standard of Heroes is destined to be the most useless item in the game in contrast to what must be done to earn it… Forever. It makes one wonder why it even drops in the first place…

no they need to re work terror zones, merge / delete and TONE DOWN the xp, it really is too fast.

i AGREE, it’s nice to have something other than D baal and nihl to kill, but difference is astounding in how easy it is to accomplish right now. it’s laughable how many 99s there are this season.

It’s too fast for people who no-life the game. It’s fine for most players.

Sorry if that came across poorly.
-my experience-
I know him, and his channel, and have watched enough of his hero-editor’d build tutorials to believe he lives/plays in a world outside the average Joe.
I know he is a top contender in ladder(s) with his awesome team/fan base. Still takes skill/knowledge/dedication I I take none of that away from him.
i have watched many of his videos, and if he turns up on a search I have done, I’ll see what he has to say.
I do not follow anyone on social media, but do find other creators more realistic and in tune with the average Joe casual (me).
Some of them actually post/interact here, which makes me feel even more connection.
The content of his to which you speak i have not run across, I do not doubt you, or that it exists, simply stating as a result of my searches regarding topics i need to learn/understand/have-interest-in.
/end my experience

That was the point I was trying to make… guess I should have left my Llama comment out, but, often times these things feel like click-bait… not saying that was you intent, rather my perception of many of these type deals.
Hope that clears things up.

Take care.

Agree.
Came back to the game after a few years off.
As a casual, playing almost 99% SSF melee character (never went into public games until clearing all content through hell, and still play 99% SF), it took me from launch (late Sept 2021) to Mar.19 of 2023 to hit lvl99 playing a couple hours a day.
When TZ’s were introduced (Oct 2022) I was already lvl97.3… finally resp’d to dual dream (Jan.28) because he’d hit a wall… and it took me until Mar.19 2023 to hit 99.
2 months to gain the last ~7 bars.
1.5 years to get to 99.
I played Zeal/Fanta build from go (no grush/twink/P8/respects, 'cept as noted) with an Act1 Merc…

There is plenty of challenge in the game if you choose to play it… most follow OP build guide X with OP Merc Y… then claim there needs be more difficulty challenge.

I’m now working on Zeal/Fanta build with Act1 merc (was my mule/socket quest guy) and am at lvl96.3.5… I hope in a year to be lvl99 playing SSF a couple hours a day without respec…

All of the above is to say, the game ought not to be tailored to the Op builds/OP Mercs being rushed/twinked.

If you want a challenge, go play Melee Druid (SSF, no respec’s) with Act1 Merc… I have one on the go… it’s painfully “challenging”.

Some areas could do with beefing up of density but one feature I’d really like to see is rare spawning super strong world boss type monsters. Something like Uber Diablo, maybe one or two for every act in different parts of the act, but that spawns a bit more frequently than Uber Diablo does. They wouldn’t have to have some unique drop like a charm, just perhaps a beefed up version of what act bosses drop.
