Pretty decent single target damage, with knockback and a little splash.
If you swap the main hand for a crystal sword/military pick with 6 fire facets you’ll get an extra 2% negative resists, and +30% to your total damage.
Since you’re teleporting and Molten Boulder is a spell, you don’t really need cannot be frozen. With a 2/15+ amulet and FCR on both rings you can reach the 75FCR breakpoint.
These are both more expensive options, so it’ll depend on your budget.
Have you tried other Merc options? Inifinity is probably a bit of overkill considering the single target damage, so I would be looking for utility like you. Other options I like for this build is the freezing arrow rogue, for the crowd control. The freeze to hold enemies back is helpful with the cooldown between boulders. I wish they would remove the cooldown.
He’s correct in that Cannot Be Frozen does little to help you save for running around. Yet when it comes to casting spells, slow effects do not impact it like it does with attack speed and running. Therefore the Ravenfrost is unnecessary and the Cham rune on the Merc is a waste.
Double Phoenix is insanely expensive. It does yield a stronger Redemption aura that will help keep Life and Mana full when dispatching enemies but that’s also a bad thing if you play with a Necro or a Barb who use corpses. Not to mention if you’re going to go double Phoenix, you might as well go Ravenlore with a 5/5 since you can achieve -81% Fire Pierce(98% with Infinity). Also with the casting delays, Cast rate doesn’t make that much of a difference. If cast delays got removed, then yeah as high as possible.
As for a budget alternative, I highly recommend full Aldur set. It won’t yield as much pierce as the Double Phoenix setup does but it comes pre-loaded with 6 sockets for 5/5 Facets and the option to use Phoenix in off-hand. You won’t have Enigma for Teleport or Flickering Flame to offset the Sunder Charm but Druids have strong Elemental absorb via Cyclone Armor.
For Merc, A3 Lightning for Static is ok but realistically you can use whatever Mercenary you want with a Fire Druid. Default pick is A2 Infinity Merc with Holy Freeze for CC while A1 Fire Merc can yield Resist Fire via Flickering Flame and Vigor via Harmony(which is cheap!). There’s also Edge too for Thorns, which is seriously underrated in PvM given you can take advantage of it via Grizzly. Can also go hard into Physical with A5 Frenzy Merc with Lawbringer to proc Decrepify to amplify the Physical damage done by him and your spells.
A full Aldur Fire Druid can hit -58% Fire pierce(-75% with Infinity, -143% against non-Sundered), which is respectable given how cheap the Set happens to be. It just won’t match the raw power that a runeword/unique setup can achieve.
