Modernize the interface, please

we’ll continue to look for feedback that points to ways we can make our game more accessible. Our teams have previously sought feedback from a variety of players, including those with disabilities, to make Diablo II: Resurrected as accessible as possible

The interface and the control scheme are dated beyond belief.
Those are the least modern things about the game, and the greatest enemy to accessibility.

Please, just allow a freaking action bar similar to what we have in MMOs and/or D3.
I see no reason why I constantly need to cast with the mouse and swap skills with the keyboard. It puts unnecessary strain on my right hand fingers. For the life of me, I can’t imagine older people or those with some sort of disability enjoying the click fest.

D3, despite all the flaws, has the right idea and allows me to cast with my left hand by pressing and holding a button on the keyboard.

Give us something like this, at least as an option:

I think they already announced that they did some changes regarding this, but I may be wrong.

We provide twelve bindable keys and allow all actions/skills to be assigned in any way the player desires. To support this, we’ve even created new bindable neutral skills like interact, allowing for complete customization.

How We’re Making Diablo® II: Resurrected™ More Accessible to Everyone — Diablo II: Resurrected — Blizzard News

You lost all credibility when you mentioned Diablo 3. Move on everyone.

re. master.

not re. make.

No …
It seems that some of the players here don’t understand what a remaster is and what VV is aiming at…no wish concert

You must not read blogs. Read link above. something similar to tcs wish is already implemented. we will all get to test it out Fridayin beta.

Let’s see. I’m not worried.
But if the interface then suddenly looks like in another game I want my money back :stuck_out_tongue:

“Modern” does not equal “better” or even “good.”

That also does not mean improvement is not possible.

It’s optional accessibility

did you mean to post this in the d2r forums or just the regular d2 forums and get lost?

ah thx

Between Grim Dawn, Torchlight and Path of Exile I must have about 1000 hours of gameplay.
And my hands never hurt so much as after playing Diablo 3 for a few hours.
It’s weird, because Diablo 3 interface is similar to WoW, but my hands and wrists never hurt during or after playing WoW.

Another key piece of accessibility is key bindings. Allowing players to set their station fully is critical. Our control scheme for controllers allows for heavy amounts of modification, and we support a long list of bindable actions for the mouse and keyboard. We provide twelve bindable keys and allow all actions/skills to be assigned in any way the player desires.

I don’t wanna play with controller. I wanna play with mouse and keyboard, and be allowed to cast skills with the keyboard and not just the mouse.

Yeah, I’ll test it tomorrow and see.

I said I want it as an option… as in you can have the classic interface and I can play with my suggested modernized version.

They’ve already made changes in order to modernize the game and also make the game more accessible.
Allowing for such a control scheme and better inface would not make D2R a re-make.

I’m pretty sure the blog post talks about making the game more modern and accessible, but whatever.

Sure… but the old interface and control scheme are neither modern, nor good.
Having to cast everything with the mouse is not good.
Having a big a$$ stamina bar and not actual skill hotkeys is not good.

It’s not weird at all. The reason should be obvious.
In D3 you’re constantly holding down your right mouse button, either to whirlwind or to tempest rush.
Try and bind those to a button on the keyboard, let your right hand relax.

tHE oLD wAYS ArE tHE BeST!! doN’T ChAnGE AnYThINg!!! EvEN iF outDaTeD. ReMaStER!!

Kindly shove off. Remaster isn’t an excuse not to update the insanely outdated interface. Game creation and search is really a downgrade to modern interfaces. This is 2021.

Interestingly enough, there is a picture, that shows being able to swap the default keybindings from “legacy” to something else. We just don’t know yet as to what the other options are. Might be just something for controllers. However, I do hope there’s a modernized option for mouse and keyboard, that allows the user to cast with the mouse.

Less than 24 hours, unless I am mistaking…

You’ve always been able to cast with a keyboard you just need to change your keybindings and remove the mouse hell you can even make the game playable with no mouse what so ever on the current D2 you just have to edit the bindings. It seems to me like you just want things done for you instead of putting in the work to make it how you want it to be

Well, I have a Corsair Scimitar Pro and all the basics are linked to the mouse.
It is very rare that I use the keyboard.

But it is true that most classes in Diablo 3 have something similar to Whirlwind.
Is it because of the interface or because all classes are played in a similar way?

No. It is because I saw your profile and the whirlwind and the tempest rush are both on your right key… and when you constantly hold the right key and move the mouse key, your finger is bound to hurt.

Which is why nowadays I whirlwind or strafe or tempest rush with the button 4.

Oh, really?

D2 does not allow you to change mouse 1 and 2. In order to do it, you would have to make some sort of macro. I don’t wanna risk my account getting banned.

And… always?
I’m no expert, but back in the year 2000 I don’t recall all manner of drivers and software, that would allow me to do that.

And yes, I’d rather have the game allow me to bind things to whatever I want. Saying “you want someone to do it for you”, suggesting I’m lazy is a lame move on your part.

Now he has understood and nothing is outdated here. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
