Can it really be right that there’s only two graphic cards that works?
My Lenovo T440s uses Intel. Anyone knows if it will ever work with this?
Other Requirements I do have:
Processor: Intel(R) Core™ i7-4600U CPU
Memory: 12,0 GB
Windows 10

A lot of graphics cards will work, but primarily from Nvidia and AMD.
On board graphichs cards from Intel will probably have quite a hard time running it though - such as the one in your Lenovo.
That being said I have an old iMac 2012 with an ancient dedicated graphics card which runs D2R fine on low settings.
By “two graphics cards” do you mean Nvidia and AMD? If so yes, those are the only two brands supported, and only if they are above the minimum card type.
Will it work on Intel? Maybe, but it is not supported so you may find issues with it. For a lot of people they get a crash when pushing the play button.
If you buy it, try to start it, find it does not work on your machine. You can refund it. You would want to do that immediately though. All digital purchase are final, but if it does not play and you JUST bought it they usually make an exception.
As for it ever working, maybe. It depends on what Blizzard decides to do with support for less common hardware going forward.
The good news is that the CPU supports AVX instructions, so only the GPU would need updating.
Thanks a lot for respons all 3.
I didn’t check the requirements, I just assume a 3 year old computer would run with no problems.
So it’s my own fault. Not the brightest when it comes to computers.
Not sure if it is worth switching graphic card in a laptop
I have similar problem, I dont even own a regular PC, just a laptop that I bought 2 months ago. Specs are :Processor - 11th Gen Intel (R) Core ™ i5-1135G7 @ 2.40GHz 2.42 GHz
RAM - 16GB
Integrated card - intel iris xe graphics.
Any idea if it will run? At least classic version for now.
I answered your question in the other thread, since you posted there first. ![]()
Short answer for anyone else: No, integrated cards don’t meet the requirements.
That’s…a laptop. Most of those don’t have replaceable GPUs. The issue here is that the OP has an Intel IGP and not a dedicated GPU, a configuration that D2R does not support currently. Sadly most laptops don’t use MXM cards, and those that do usually aren’t easy to replace.
This is honestly the first game I’ve bumped up against that has such jaw dropping disparity in compatibility vs. most other games out there. I really do feel bad for people that have even modern computers without just the right combination of components to play D2R.
It seems a bit stone age kind of thinking.
There are many different manufactures out there.
But thanks again for good responses and information
Sometimes they have space for a dedicated one to be added, it depends on the model. Plus, you can use external GPUs in some cases. Just adding these for others who may want to look into it.
Oh I’m aware you can use an eGPU, but by the time you get the enclosure and the GPU (especially with GPU prices being beyond absurd at the moment), you’d be able to get a new laptop for the same cost.
As for adding in a GPU, almost none of the prebuilt/OEM laptops are going to have that. You usually only find that on something like a Dell Alienware type setup, which costs $Bling$.
Thank you for reply.
Thanks for reply, looks like I will have to refund… shame that 20 yr old game with upgraded graphics requires a gaming PC lol.
It’s sad to see this even on a moern IGP, but unfortunately D2R’s engine (dual engines actually) put a pretty good strain on resources. Might have been a different story had they allowed the user to shut off the unused engine entirely, freeing up resources. Perhaps in a future patch…
I can’t account for everyone’s situation, that’s why they are just suggestions. For instance, a friend gave me an eGPU they weren’t using anymore for a small project I was working on. Sometimes people have others who are generous in their lives.
Okay if you don’t wanna answer but do you have any good suggestions to choose intel over AMD or opposite?
If you want recommendations for budget computers/laptops that will meet the game requirements, I highly recommend making a topic in #general-discussion. Lots of people are usually willing to give their input. Even though I don’t work at Blizzard, I don’t like to endorse any particular brands over another when it comes to hardware.
Fair enough and thanks for your help anyway
If you press play button and get a crash, maybe can say the hardware does not meet minimum requirement or is not supported. But if you play 15 to 30 mins without any problem then suddenly crash to desktop, it is definitely a bug with the game side and Blizzard needs to address it. I’m also running D2R on my newly purchased laptop with Iris Xe, I can always load into the game and play, it just keep crashing from time to time.
That is part of your issue. The only video cards that are supported for D2R are the Nvidia and AMD cards. The game does not support integrated graphics of any type right now.
You might be able to get it to work, but it won’t be great performance or stable.
I am glad to hear you can play. Just be careful of your hardware. Keep it cool and don’t push it too far.
