Mike Ybarra, co-leader of Blizzard selling Boosts

So in WoW you can pay real money to get the best items and rankings. Schills cope by saying it’s with gold, but when you can buy gold for real money through the Blizzard shop, then i think you understand how this is literally RMT.

If this guy is the co-leader of all of Blizzard, you can see how this relates to D2R and D2jsp not being banned or shut down by Blizzard. When the co-leader of all of Blizzard supports pay2win RMT’s, you can guarantee D2R and Diablo 4 will continue to be pay2win games through D2jsp and Blizzard tokens.

These people arent game creators, these people are from Sales and Marketing. It’s all down hill from here and i dont know how anyone cant fully expect Diablo 4 to not be a pay2win version of Diablo 3. Imagne buying D4 items with $20 Blizzard shop Tokens…

Got any links for context?

He has randomly picked one of the new new co-leaders of Blizzard to complain about being able to use WoW tokens to get gold in WoW.

Gold you can use to get someone to let you in their raid and get a chance at loot.

Blizzard also sells character boosts to take you to the start of the expansion, so you only have to do the most recent stuff.

It is an intentionally inflammatory and misleading title - and content.

  • These mechanics have been in WoW since way before Mike Ybarra was hired at Blizzard.
  • They were in WoW since way before he was made co-leader at Blizz.
  • Mike Y is a tech guy, not a game designer, marketing guy, or suit.
  • Mike Y is not personally selling any “boosts”.
  • Character boosts to the start of the expansion (you still have to level the rest of the way in the new content) are not the same as spending Gold for raid or Mythic runs.
  • Nothing in Blizzard is currently pay real money to win. You can get cosmetics, but that is about it.

The post is just a mess of misleading to get people riled up. I have no idea what made him try to link his mess to Mike Y…it is actually Bizarre.

LOL
Except all the BiS boes that ensures the winners of “the race to world first” must meet a certain threshold of gold (aka tokens)
Gold is the currency of WoW, you can buy gold. Simple as. WoW is a f2p, pay to win model.
I was just wondering if this guy was an old school dev who understands why tokens suck and is just accelerating the fall of WoW, or a current dev who thinks tokens are good which is accelerating the fall of WoW.

People who think this exists because pf the WoW token are incredibly funny.

I have no clue on WoW stuff but on D2jsp

Part of why it is likely to be allowed to exist is simply a matter of enforcement. Can Blizzard actually do anything since FG isn’t directly $s? How would Blizzard enforce a ban?

Without completely changing the trading system in D2R from it’s original predecessor (D2) I don’t personally see a way to police D2jsp with any reasonable effort. As such, there is no reason why I would expect to ever see D2jsp shutdown

Neither. He was a Microsoft guy for 22 years in an infrastructure/tech capacity. He came to Blizz to work on the infrastructure side. He is not a game dev or marketing guy.

He happens to like playing Mythyic + WoW and his guild (including him) “sell” runs for gold.

That has been going on for the entire lifetime of WoW. Server top guilds do, world top guilds do, etc. Always have. So yeah. BUT people like to make something of it as though.

It is all base off tweet he made talking about streaming one of their guild runs that sells spots for gold. https://twitter.com/Qwik/status/1449480048902225921

Yeah its fine, up until you can buy gold for cash. Tokens, by their existence, place a real world monetary value on every piece of gold in WoW. You can calculate how much real world money it costs you to repair your gear now. It sucks, buying consumables for raid? No thanks, that doubles the price of WoW for the month. Its no mystery why the game is dead, at best there are 1.3 mil active accounts. How many of those accounts are selling boosts for tokens? 33%? 50%?

So now we know who is the man behind servers.

Not surprised a green would come in here with damage control.

It’s literal pay2win and now the TOP guy in all of blizzard is doing it too. Things will only get worse and it’s going to plague D4. Obviously blizzard is fine with D2jsp if the top guy thinks this way.

Again, referencing my earlier post, how do you control D2jsp without fundamentally changing the entire loot system in D2?

easily. they alter the ToS. They hire a couple small town lawyers. They prove “forum gold” has monetary value. They show evidence that you can buy forum gold and trade that for d2 items. It’s a simple process. The problem is they arent even trying, and now we know why from the top blizzard guys tweet.

I can’t imagine D4 being worth anyone’s time, let alone money. Hope I’m wrong.

If you remember the original D2 experience, you will know that hacked, glitched, and duped items was far more detrimental to the competitive PvP scene than random whales ebaying their gear or paying for xp/rushes.

Blizzard itself could sell level 80 characters in their webstore for all I care as long as they fight back against the hackers and dupers to give legit and free players a space to compete, I will be happy.

Bravata, AKA forum stalker, how long is it gonna be till you do it here?

garbage tier opinion from a self admitted D2jsp user.

Lol traderie is not djsp or RMT, it is for direct p2p trades

Clown shoes bro

nobody values the opinion of a pay2win whale, and nobody worth their pvp salt would allow one into a serious pvp tourney.

I wouldnt be talking about anyone like that, compared to some of the crap you’ve done over the years.

Or shall i expose it over here for people to gawk at?

Lmao bought items with runes, the defacto in-game currency - it’s all there in my traderie history - if you can stalk my posts you can stalk that to get your facts correct

My in-game trading hasn’t gone particularly well lately it’s true but it still shows playing this game without a credit card is viable and plenty of folks do it (hopefully they are better barterers than I am lol)
