We are all aware you desire Blizzard to create new avenues with existing blizzard IP. I beg you, please listen to reason and TAKE OUR MONEY.
Ive accepted that the blizzard machine wants us to buy multiple accounts to generate income so we can play the game as it was meant to be played on P8 difficulty. I’m suggesting a bridge between the botters/RMT’ers & real players:
Allow those who buy 8 accounts to have access to P8 feature on bnet. They do anyways. Atleast let us do it legitimately and safely.
Charge for extra character slots on desired accounts. $5.99? $9.99? Doesnt matter how much. You will make money! And it doesnt change the void between the RMT’ers and real players. Everyone wins.
If you start making money from the above 2 options (trust us you will) → please consider adding actual pvp. Such as battlegrounds (like arathi basin or wsg in classic wow)
Watch players flood back or just play more. The first two could be done with absolutely no cost/risk.
Stop the war between RMT’ers who pretend they “care” about the game and real players who want higher difficulty options with a friend or two and no risky/painful multibox setup.
I’d give anything to play with my 75 yr old father again. But just us 2 on p8 via battlenet. He quit and doesnt want to play bc p2 on bnet is just too easy. Dude… a 75 yr old finds that too easy? Stop catering to hateful botters/RMT’ers that profit off your company.
Start accepting OUR money and thinking about your bottom line.
I can definitely understand where you’re coming from, especially if you guys are playing Meta builds.
The problem with p8 being accessible in single player Bnet games, is that everyone would only play S Tier builds. Because why would you play a C Tier build that definitely can’t and won’t ever be able to do solo P8 runs?
Forced P1 in solo games helps encourage build diversity. Because in a solo game, you only need to be able to handle p1, and in multiplayer p8 games, someone’s gonna be playing a completely overtuned build that will compensate for your characters lack of firepower.
PS: yes to the rest of it if it brings them back to paying attention to this game, and removing some garbage they added (mosaic) and balancing some of the classes and play styles that struggle to be relevant in multiplayer.
P1 is absolutely pointless to play. If they made it so p1 held monsters as difficult or harder than p8. Altho in a way that would invalidate what you are suggesting.
Why you are wrong tho is its not about making the game worse for c builds. The game is about learning how to enhance and uplift those c builds. No matter how good fury wolf is, it’ll still suck compared to an AoE build on every other class… even elemental druid!
So what can you do? Create a hybrid Armageddon-fury wolf. Still play your class + enhance it. C build now A build. Forcing everyone to play p1 is beyond dumb. Its communism. People leave those countries for a reason just like they left D2R for a reason.
This game is unplayable for the vast majority over long term unless there is a higher difficulty available. P8 is exactly that. Problem is you need to pay and take on annoyance and risk to do it. Can live with paying for it; but not the risk/annoyance
You know that if they add a higher difficulty, people will complain that it’s too hard, they’ll want power boosts either via skills and/or more powerful items. The power creep cycle will repeat again.
The game has been played for 24 years now, it’s no surprise that it’s considered easy. You can choose to play a non meta build. You can choose not to use overpowered items. You have the choice to make the game difficult. Or hang it up and play something else.
Others have said it so I’ll repeat it now: If you’re making a product for everyone you’re making it for no one.
Blizzard North understood what they were aiming for and what demographic of gamer they were working for.
Blizzard (South) had an entirely different idea of who they were making the 3rd entry for.
Modern Blizzard is making a game they think everyone would play. I’m serious. It’s that bad over there.
As the company grows and becomes more corporate, it’ll be less and less representative of the original fanbase. So no wonder they’ve alienated us. They intended to. The problem for them now is realizing that there is no audience outside of us. Or perhaps if it exists it is very small and unworkable.
So they need money you understand. Hence all the excessive monetization to offset the hemorrhaging of returning customers.
I’m not sure Microsoft can do anything here given they also want more money and have the same failing big tent mindset. Stranger things have happened but we could witness these acquisitions actually damage Microsoft over the long haul. Like Concord did to Sony.
I agree, 3 difficulties/playthroughs is already a lot. I kind of like this idea as a game option. Not a mandatory game
Mode of course, but something that can be flicked on at game creation.
Perhaps this is how people could get their online p8 dream to come true.
I’m not sure bots could benefit from it at all actually.
But players would get the difficulty bump progressively as they put in the time to clear all of the maps…
Itd be easier on the servers too as people would stay in their games longer… hmm. Interesting.
Yeah, been thinkering about this mechanic for years but with the first year of D2R and all the server issues it was having due to game spamming, it became way more interesting as it pushes people to stay in the same game
And unlike currently where other people games get progressively less interesting as they kill all the interesting. Bosses and clear the right areas, this does the opposite, you can help or even get the torch passed onto you from somebody who just spent countless time clearing a game
A game thats been up for 60min which is currently a don’t touch now becomes a treasure for endgame players
On top of that is that all the tools already exist for this with “/players” and “the den quest”
If the game hadn’t been abandonned this could have been the ground to have events
Reaching certain % cleared could spawn certain bosses and events
Ie:
a portal to Rathma’s lair spawning at 50%, all those 50% monsters are thrown at you during the fight
the siege of Harrogath where Uber shenk sends armies of marching monsters toward the town and you need to defend it
They’ll never do this… i dont blame them for the reasons behind that either. I suggest buying bank tabs or char slots as a compromise/win-win. They are never going to do what isnt financially beneficial. Thats why i call on Microsoft. They are our only hope at this point. Write them directly to fix anything on d2r
Even if it were purely 100% for cosmetics only? With zero effect on the game mechanics, no advantage whatsoever? Like dye for example: Get your Harlquin in pink now! For only 5 bucks!!!
I’d personally support that. Have some wallet-warriors pay for continued improvements for everyone.
Nope. Not at all. Because every game that does that ends up with everyone looking goofy as hell, some annoying screen effect, or obnoxious sound effects attached to it. The game is generally made worse simply to milk more money out of it.
I’ve got enough old games to last me til the end of times, I can be as picky as I want. generally these days there is usually just 1 maybe two games that come out each year I have interest in. They’ll get around a month of play each, then I’ll spend the other 10-11 playing games I’ve had forever.
