Will D2R ever inplement things like name changes or something, similar to what World of Warcraft has?

I’m sure they would have loved to when vv was an actual organization but coding such a system onto custom 25+ year old engine vs using those developer man hours towards existing or current gen mtx, which you think gives bigger return?
D2:R did wonders for Blizzard as far as micro transactions into Blizzards pocket… The idea of Diablo 2 being remastered brought back some of the group of retired from the game, older and of course richer crowd, possibly interesting them in Diablo 4 and Immortal where the MTX is.
D2 and D2:R already have micro transactions… They just violate Blizzards EULA, and of course carry a degree of risk.
Name changes? Characters in this game are way more temporary (particularly on hardcore) than in games like WoW. I don’t see a meaningful demand for this. Few people name their characters seriously and there’s no character customization beyond equipment.

Well, if you interact with the Chinese seller sites that spam the lobby chat, yeah, you’re just asking for trouble. But D2jsp and anything similar that might exist, it’s technically just a failitator for trading that occurs in game, and Blizzard has no way of being able to tell if you used the site or not; whereas they might be able to tell if you bought something from known chinese farm accounts, so things like d2jsp are in much more of a gray area.
I agree with you but this is not a can of worms you want to open here, half the folks think d2jsp is the devil himself so trying to use logic towards it will only slap a target on your back.
I mean, it exists, and they (the complaining users) can’t really do anything about that, is it so hard to just not use it if it bothers you? lol

Yeah like some people name their characters then regret the name they chose for the toon. Especially when its 99, leveling again to 99 is a massive pain for simply just changing your name. I think it would be a lovely addition, even if they added timing restrictions, like 1 name change per 90 days per character or something.
Something that never happened and will never happen because nobody with the mental capacity to call a character a toon Has ever and will never manage to reach 99

He is saying that he doesn’t like it when when Diablo characters are called toons. He is not say he doesn’t like it when they are called toons, and called characters.

“toon” made some sense in WoW due to its nature and art style. It doesn’t make sense for a gritty game like diablo.
