MF system and player base is dead empty

Right, I have such a non-clue about MF that I am somehow more successful than you at it, with far less MF, with far less time playing, far less stress about it, no complaints about it, it’s simply all that I got super duper uber lucky and you got super duper uber unlucky and that’s all there is to it, nothing more than that. Truly astounding logic on your part, to fail to even for one second look at yourself and what you are doing and how you are playing and your general knowledge of the game, no it must be pure RNG and nothing else, uh-huh…I don’t even know why I continue to reply to you at this point, tbh.

You know, we deal with posts like this daily, which is why Odin is so curt with you, you cant handle direct, so hes a troll, got it… lol

Just because you say/think its not working as intended, doesnt mean it actually is. If you had come out of your runs with your (not 800 mf) who runs that? with all the loot you expected to get, would you still make this thread saying the system is broken even though the exact same system rewarded you to your expectation?

Yup that’s the point. You get gear with no mf makes no sense. Even some people with high mf get gear which makes no sense either. Both sides randomly get gear, hence too much RNG and the looting system doesn’t seem to be influenced by mf. It’s all insane RNG. Some are lucky and some aren’t like myself. Too much RNG needs to change.

That’s you not understanding what you’re doing or how the systems work, or you being inefficient with your time or playstyle, or any number of other things. RNG is but one part of it. You are acting like that’s all that matters or all there is, when you couldn’t be further from the truth.

Please actualy learn something about MF system and how loot in D2 works, because you are complaining…

MF has nothing to do with item type it drops and also nothing to do with roll of item.

Weird, if they are finding literary nothing, how can they have near best in slot MF? KInd of doesnt make sense dude.

Yeah. I agree. They are playing the game wrong. Haha get gud guys. It shouldn’t take 1,000 hours to get some top teir gear. Change the way you play.

OP is running 800 MF but has gotten crappy gear? I don’t know how you even get 800 MF on a character without some decent drops first, but there is no way to have 800 MF AND good DPS, especially when you claim your drops have not been very good. My guess is the OP has gimped his DPS for extreme MF, and has slow clear times which is diminishing his loot. MF has a big diminishing return. 300-400 MF is fine. Do not gimp your DPS to get more.

I’m confused as to why you’re even still playing D2R. Pretty clear you don’t like the game. I think Diablo 3 is more your speed.

Seasons.
If you played it right, you should have altrady everything you need by now.
I am talking about those infinity, enigma, dreams, skillers, etc.

If you didn’t got any of those, get gud and enjoy next ladder (with a reduced playerbase ).

Or go the p2w route and pay for your stuff, like many other people do.
Welcome to d2.

No one has explained how they got their gear other than insane RNG. The alternative is they’re scared of violating ToS from stating that they bought their gear or received free gear from someone that bought their gear. Regardless, I know it is RNG. My friend finds a ber and jah rune and other useful hell uniques faster than people spamming +8 groups while doing nearly the same content. You just have to worship casinos and spam roll to get loot.

Wanna know how I got my gear? I started with Sorceress once D2R launched, I went Lightning to start and farmed Hell Countess/ArcaneSanc/Summoner/Pindle/Eldritch/Shenk/DacFarren for a while, until I got plenty of runes and keys and experience, along with some better items. Then I went Blizzard sorceress and farmed Andy/AncientTunnels/Travincal/Meph/Cows for a while, until I got, well, most items you’re going to want. Then I went Fire just for fun, and did some Mausoleum and Maggot Lair runs, along with more Cows. At this point I had most gear for most every class in the game, so I made other characters…who also accumulate gear naturally…along with MF’ing whenever I want or feel like it…at this point I have 15 level 85s+ most of which don’t even MF because it REALLY shouldn’t, and doesn’t, take so long as it seemingly does for you, to acquire gear. This was all done playing solo online/players 1, btw.

You are actually, finally, somewhat right, there is of course an element of RNG to all of this. I haven’t yet found an Arachnid Mesh, for example, though I “should” have probably found at least one or maybe even two by this point. But do you hear me complaining about it? Nope. Because I got plenty of other great stuff, which got traded for runes, which were used to trade for an Arachnid Mesh anyway. You know things like GG charms can be worth essentially High Runes, right? Sometimes things will drop and it’s like “4 ist dropped”.

I mean I can go on and on about this, but really my first comment said all you need to know. Please educate yourself about the game, and please refrain from needlessly complaining about RNG. That’s part of the game. Don’t like it? Don’t play D2. Or, become okay with the nature of RNG in the game like everyone else who plays and enjoys the game.

Lol speak of the devil, apparently I just had to post about how I haven’t found Arachnid Mesh and should have probably found 1 or 2 by now, and lo and behold Meph drops my first one in D2R just now. Also a 49 wartravs the run before…yay  @225MF

? Wanna me to tell ya how to get gud?
Sure.
Should I start listing?
Btw, p8 is not involved.

Please do! Does it involve a j s p?

Not directly.
What I mean by that, you don’t need jsp, as long you know the value of your stuff.

You see, d2 101 teaches that you need to know what something is sold for, even on another markets, regardless if you like it or not because those are the basics of economy.

If something is sold/traded for less on another market, you can’t force your customer to buy for more.
Unless you are fishing for casuals but then, you would be eaten alive by legacy users.

You can “consult” d2jsp, forums and discord channels to understand how much an item is worth and when.

Now.
Let’s go with the easy guide to get good!
(My take on it)

  • Start ladder on classic and you need friends.
The number of players is not relevant as long you have at least one sorc, one barbarian and one paladin.

  • Paladin can easily crush on normal even at p5+, he just needs holy fire and static support.
Many guides available online about starter characters.
Ignore all the sorc builds, you want 20 on static and 20 on teleport. Just that. Rest in what you want.

  • You should be on act 4 normal around lvl 20-22 .
Kill diablo, static him to death.
Respec to hammerdin, farm CS or tombs and get to lvl 25-30 doing cows.
You could move to nightmare ofc but I would suggest to beef a bit up your hammerdin.
See exp charts for optimal farming areas.

Pro Tips:

Cows normal are amazing for amulets and rings, get those fcr items if you haven’t)

Shop +20fcr wands from act 3 or jamella when you reach level 23.

Also look for bone shields with 20/20. They cost around 14k gold but they are absolutely fantastic on classic d2.

2.4 act 3 cold mercenaries are absolutely OP on normal classic. Get those. Easy peasy

  • From now on, sorc is gonna be your dedicated navigator and static debuffer.
Barb is there just for BO.
Rush all nightmare. Be careful of fire/light enchanted bosses.
    Avoid.
Pick all the flawless gems up.
You want a 3 socketed pdia tower shield for each character moving on hell difficulty.
    Use/look for Shrines.

  • Nightmare should be fairly easy with a telesorc and a BO barb starting building the mana reserves.

  • Repeat the 'ol process, cows and when you feel ok, move to hell.
There’s no issue here. You have your static.
Works in hell at full capacity in classic.
Now get to level 60 in CS.
A single almost naked hammerdin, with 70% block rate and BO/Shout buff should be easily able to crush CS at p7 as long you have the right balance of FCR elemental resistances.
Ofc, if you have more players on your team, make sure you are stacking different aura types.
That makes the whole experience even faster due to HP increase of monster per extra player (50%)
In short, 2 hammerdins have it easier, compared to a single hammerdin because HP increase is a mere 50% for every extra player.

  • Now, before converting to expansion, you have two options.
You see, in day one, some classic items are extremely valuable.
    Like Spectral Shard.
If you find it and you don’t want to use JSP ok, doesn’t matter but you are missing out on a lot of potential resources.
There other items worth trading, like Irathra’s set and others you can find a list on various websites.
Up to you. Do or don’t.

I don’t judge you for using or not using JSP.
The service is there. If you don’t like it, don’t use it as long YOU ARE AWARE OF THE PRICES.

You see, not knowing things is not an excuse.
You need to know what to pick up and how much is worth on day 1.

  • Convert to expansion.
Do Anya’s, and everything you left behind.
Again, this is a team effort. You need friends.
Make sure you have a community of people supporting you.

Now, time for some pro tips.

If I were you, I would have a second account. Or a third.
So that Barb, could be yours. (Your BO/Shout slave)

Also you could have another sorc stuck at act 3 Mephisto. But never kill Mephisto on that sorc.
Let’s call that your “bug sorc”.

A bit tricky to level up, cuz she will probably be stuck at lvl 1, but again, if you have friends, you ll be fine finding an enchanter in few seconds on your discord.

  • Now. Regardless of what your class is:
Respec if needed and get the basic runewords running.
    Search for bases.
Kill countess NM, gear a little your character and your merc, make some prismatic amus… from now on, you are solo.
Make your 3 socketed pTopaz Helms, and 4 socketed PTopaz Armor.
You could also Gamble for Gull, some teleport staffs (need another level 11 (I believe) character on.
    Get your starter gear going.

REMEMBER. THIS IS DAY 1 STUFF.
NOT DAY 7.

  • Get Geared and ignore MF.
If you are sorc, do ancients and get to lvl 70-80ish with Baal runs BUT, if own a second account, never kill quest Baal on your main MF character.

That’s my pro tip.

Barbarians are gonna kill themseves MFinding on act3

Paladin could run CS already but remember.
Again.
If Pala is your main you should’t kill diablo hell on Your main quest.
Never.

Yet.

Now let’s recap.
You might have a starter sorc with topazs.
(Stuck at Baal hell)
You might have Barb main.
(Kill yourself farming in Act three)
Or a hammerdin.
(stuck at Diablo)

Optional characters:
A BO barb slave
A Bug Mephisto sorc
whatever else you want.

Day 1.

PART 2 COMING

Now.
What do do. What to do…

PART TWO

First thing first.
If you have the optional BO slave, great!
He can kill Baal!

From now on, that little guy is gonna be your dedicated Game creator.
Never create a game with your main MF character, always use you BO slave.

If you do so, you’ll get quest drops every time respectively from
Baal → Sorcy (not userful now but that will come handy later)
Mephisto → remember that Bug Sorcy stuck at act 3?
Diablo → Hammerdin

Ofc, a second account is not strictly REQUIRED but you’ll need a second character on your main account.
Who has already killed Baal.
Or mephisto.
Or Diablo.
Whoever.

Now.
Know your market.
Not knowing the value of stuff is not gonna fly.

Kill yoursef (and I mean, go very hard on) faming Mephisto, or Andy, or Trav/LK or (Bugged) Mephisto or (Bugged) Diablo.

If you have a dedicated farming team, fantastic!
Use your Bugged (Baal) sorc to be the last hitting and get quest drops every time.

Everybody is gonna be looking for Shakos, Arachs, etc.
Find those and sell them.
You have your Ptopaz items and you can cheese Mephisto.
(Bugged) Diablo is also very juicy for hammerdin as ling you have teleport charges.

Tips:
Ignore lvl 85 areas.
They are end game areas and they are a little of a gamble.
You might get lucky or lose a lot of time in there.

First days of farming, meph, andy… are very profitable.

But… my man… you need to sell that stuff.
Not keeping it for yourself.
Let’s say you get… dunno…
TAL Rasha amulet.
Do you need that?

Hell no!!!

You can get a lot of stuff for that, trade it for Skullder + Alibaba + some runes? Dunno whatver you want.
Know your market.

Also, you could be farming keys.
Or cows for Highrunes.
Up to you, know your market.

Check the prices, what is needed and decide; adjust your routine.
But if you want to stick to act bosses, you should be fine.

You WILL ALWAYS find something that is worth a bit, expecially on first days.
Remember to check magic items and worthwhile rares.

You see, this is the process of getting gud.
Knowing the market.
You find a Shako on day one, that thing is worth much more than a Shako on day 22.

To put things in perspective, you see, all those morons asking for p8 don’t know/understand that bugged bosses are the real deal, expecially at the start of the season.
But Hey!

Knowledge is power.

Now.

“But HateBugs… I don’t like Uniques… I want runes!”

Ok.

OPTION ONE

Get some basic stuff, no MF items required.
Kill cows with blizzSorc OR a 2.4 nova sorc with points on ES and Telekinesis.
For cows, you are not afraid of mana burn.

Note:
This is MY guide and I don’t start with Javazon or Necro.
Javazons and Necros are better at killing cows.

Also, cows are better at higher players count. I never farm there at p1.

I might farm Bosses at p3.
Or p5, p7 later on for end game content.
Clear speed is the most important factor.

If you are targeting superunqiues or boss packs, well… you can do that at p1.

You see?
Friends.
And knowledge.
Or money for other d2r copies.
Up to you.

No JSP touched.

OPTION TWO

LK with telesorc at p7?
Runes, jewels, skillers.
Boring, but still viable, unfortunately.

OPTION THREE

Barb, travincal.

OPTION FOUR

Buy 7 other d2r copies, play classic for few days, proceed to max forging quest everyday.

Make at least 7 new characters everyday but be very careful, this is an advanced technique and requires

  • gear on classic
(Shard, Irathra, twitch…) and you need it fast!
So no JSP or traderie might actually be an issue here.
  • skill
  • somebody to get your Forges on Expansion, until you have a dedicated character running on there.

Very repetitive and boring but this is the most reliable rune farming method available.
That’s why some folks, (guilty) are pissed at act 3 changes.

OPTION FIVE

offer your services in exchange for a payment. (Could be runes or other items)
The problem is that there’s no currency on D2, so you have to rely on JSP or other methods.

Note:

Act 2 Arcane, is very good for high runes, and might be better than LK, I don’t know.
Same for CS.
The problem is that you most likely want a farming group.
That’s why p7 capable builds are vital for the current economy but we have everyday 4 Melvins posting about nerfs on d2r general forum.

SHORT VERSION:

If you follow my advices, your d2r experience will get 100 times better.
I promise you that.
This is not a SOLO game.
Also YOU absolutely NEED to know your market.

I gifted many SUR or ISTs when my team mates needed them.

Hope it helps.

P.s. I might have missed something, feel free to correct me if you think I am wrong as long you are gonna back up your statements with facts.
