Mercs are getting a buff as well

According to the notes the Mercs are also getting a buff.
And yes there are more then just one type of Merc.

I wonder if they will just be tuning the numbers or giving them some new skills to play with.
Would be nice to able to equip more then just 2h swords for the Act5 mercs.

Emilio is going to feel really lonely soon.

I’m actually VERY excited to be able to use the Rogue and Iron Wolf mercs instead of just defaulting to the passive mana/HF buff that is the Desert Mercenary.

Would love to see all mercs have the ability to use Ranged or Melee weapons.

This is probably the change I like the most. Wiglaf was very sad for almost 20 years.

didnt you watch the stream? they were quite direct with all mercs except act 3. here a summary:
Act 1 Rogue:
-bigger radius for inner sight (was discussed in the amazon passive skill part)
-AoE Attack skills (they did not mention which ones). I assume for fire it must either be exploding arrow or immolate and for cold Ice Arrow or Freezing Arrow.
Act 2:
-All merc auras available in all difficulties.
-Thorns got a rework for flat damage.
Act 3:
rob was very vague on that one
-Core stats improved ( I hope this does not just mean str, dex, life, but also synnergies+masteries and skill levels)
-“distinctive advantage with resistance values”(tey have the highest resistances, think it was 9.5/level or so)
-“with skills we kinda wanted to embrace their elemental fantasies so we gave some flavourful utility skills”
Act 5:
-Battle Cry skill (debuff for damage output and defense of enemies)
-Life and Defense boost

Opinion:
A1: the bonus to inner sight radius will help keep the AR bonus for melees more consistant. I just hope the casting rate is properly adjusted with the new skill she gets.
Act 3:
Can’t say much to it since they did not reveal the changes
Act 5:
Battle Cry seems VERY promising to me. At level 1 it reduces damage at -25%, at level 20 -44%. With the addition of life and defense boost (which where a bit better than act 2’s to begin with) he could have better tanking capacity than the Act 2 Holy freeze (freezing enemies slows them at about 50% => 50% damage reduction).

I would love having a really good viable A3 merc.

Would be cool if you could have a roster of 1 of each merc chilling in town so you don’t have to delete them every time

There should be some better synergies with mercs, at least for a D4 idea the merc should act as a primer at times or one version of the merc, and the user sets off whatever.

Dunno random idea, interested to see how useful other mercs finally become.

maybe have your aura on all the time as soon as i load into a game instead of waiting for three minutes after you start face tanking mobs Emilio

Giving mercs a sword that can cast Lower Resist on hit would be a great way to add something useful to the Act 3 and 5 mercs for elemental builds

this is a great news

he all know here , some mercs are just useless , most of the time i only use might or holy freeze , i think this will be great act 5 mercs have barbarian cry aura , same with act3 mercs with sorc skill , very hype for this

If they don’t add auras then the merc will still be useless.

Pretty much what I think too. When they started saying Barbarians in Act5 would get some shouts, I was hoping something good like Battle Orders (+HP/MP) would be a good contender. But apparently they aren’t getting these ones.

An aura is difficult to replace and thus makes Act2 merc still the best IMHO. Especially since they announced they would have even more aura choices and have most if not all of them available at all difficulty levels. Other acts mercenaries should have gotten some auras too. If Iron Wolves had the MP regen aura or the Resistance auras they would be serious contenders for magic user classes. If the rogues had Fanatism ? and as I said Barbs had Battle Orders? wow.

Wait and see I guess. Still an interesting change.

Yeah I mean it’s possible they could add mercs that synergize with skills to improve a player’s skill on something. Barring that, auras are all that matter.
