Blizzard has one CM doing both D2 and D4 and D4 is obviously going to be a bigger priority.D2R is more than a hop and a skip away from D4, so its no surprise if they moved the devs over to that project. (just thinking out loud) They’re wresting with the details for seasonal schedules too and honestly, I just think it may be time we start thinking about the next diablo 2 season having little to no changes.
I only wanted qol and balance changes to items and skills, game is almost perfect already, better improve things that already exist than create new ones…
These devs gave us terror zones, hustle, bulwark and hearth. They gave us summoner druid and fire druid without a shared cd. They gave us the speediest werewolf druid in the west as well.
Terror zones are bad. I get why you like them. But they’re a poor concept.
Those runewords you named are bad with the exception of hustle.
Summoner druid already existed. Fire druid is a meme. Werewolf is still bad even with the buffed out version.
They killed FHR. They added in sunder charms rather than fix imbalances. They made a new meme runeword rather than fix a bad class forcing people into 1 option for your claws. They added TZ rather than fix the real issue which was XP loss at a higher level they made a weirdo environment where drop rates are unknown.
Sunder charms are awful for the game. However what they attempt to do no matter how poorly is fix class imbalances and make classes able to be more universal. Balancing out those weaker classes would take skill that they do not possess.
See the concepts that they were attempting to fix were put out there by people smarter than these devs. They’ve been around for a very long time. But these devs took all of 2 seconds and went with the first trash idea they could come up with rather than taking their time and coming up with meaningful ways to improve the game. Just like with the trap/facet change that they’ve now screwed up 4 times? They don’t know how the game works, they’re just throwing crap at the walls and seeing what they can get to hang there for the longest.
You must be memeing. Summoner druid was a meme before d2r changes. fire druid is the strongest druid build now. Werewolf is amazing, but melee never compete with casters.
I think you’re just rose-tinted glasses and salty.
I had zero expectations for Season 4 anyway, because of the crunch time on Diablo 4. I was expecting just a plain old reset like old times. I’m surprised we’re even getting a patch, which I’m sure is just bug fixes, maybe even a small surprise change that didn’t require testing.
Summoner druid was the same before as it is now (meme). Except maybe as a shield for PvP druid. Fire druid is still a meme caster build. Werewolf is still a meme build as well because melee is just awful in the game.
Has nothing to do with D2LOD being perfect or “rose-tinted glasses” or being salty. Melee should have been buffed LONG ago. Druids abilities should have been effective in PvM long ago. But those classes are all still bad.
Meanwhile there are 100’s of suggestions on how to buff melee to be viable. There are many caster abilities that could have been buffed long ago to compete with the S teir classes. Conviction/infinity or other runewords should have been equalized long ago so that all classes could benefit. If actual class balance was implemented sunders wouldn’t be necessary. They’re a weak addition to the game, but all these devs are capable of. If XP loss at higher levels was edited, there would be no need for TZ.
if you think tz, sunder or mosaic is the team “doing a good job” give your head a shake… they are doing terrible…
turn off tz? maybe make it fun to play. random area for one hour at a time? WHO ENJOYS THIS? HONESTLY??? i think more people sign off (and don’t look back at this point) than waiting for a good TZ to roll … for an hour only… like it’s the absolute worst system i have EVER seen in gaming.
The solution of the simple minded… I guess it’s hard to grasp that turning them off or not using sunder charms doesn’t fix the changed multiplayer experience.
But as you seem to be a casual or just bad at the game, I can see that every crutch Blizzard offers you is welcomed.
Most likely. I only wish they would have done that after 2.4 and before 2.5… i just want an loot Filter and a currency stash tab instead of TZs and sunders…
i agree that tz+sunder was a meh idea at best, mosaic should straight up be deleted and charges mechanics moved to the skill tree instead either in form of melee mastery or baked into the skill.
In my opinion they should remove terrorzone all togeather and make a new difficulty of it… maybe Normal > Nightmate > Hell > Terror (25-100% more mob spawn in every area wich encurages people to run all areas + make all mobs mlvl 99 with added hp+dmg to weed out the weak ones, res penalty from hell>terror -30 like from any other difficulty)
Have to agree with this. Balance changes would be better than Sunders. Then lower immunities to a reasonable amount so nothing is 100%res. Also why isn’t Hell changed to lv85 and above. No need for terror zones
Yup typical game progression should have been easy to do.
Infinity or Conviction or Some Runeword or Some Unique → gives a way to break immunity.
-Res and -XYZ jewels + runewords + items should greatly reduce enemy’s res.
If you want to be golden, you stay in your lane, dont bother with conviction or -res and farm a few areas.
If you want to farm everywhere you need to break res.
If you want to farm everywhere and do more damage everywhere you need to lower that res.
If abilities were fixed beyond that, then the progression works evenly for everyone.
And if someone wants to farm the den of evil all day every day they shouldn’t have zero chance of finding certain items. If you need to make den of evil harder to justify this that is fine, but with builds that don’t use immunity bypass and -res gear the options for versatility in game and being able to farm decently and get decent XP are far too limiting. Also this would take off some server load because people would be able to farm longer in one game.
More runewords instead of buffing/fixing uniques - meh, lazy game design.
Also they’re introducing changes at a snail’s pace. Clearly they don’t care that much. All of the changes they’ve made could be done within 3 months tops, not more than a year…
To make a challenging game you must have that specific mindset where challenge=good.
Currently, the mindset in gamedev is that challenge=bad, because it drives away the mentally disabled casual who can barely press two buttons at the same time.
Shame that they had to butcher this 20 year old game tho… aren’t they happy with the crap D3 and D4 they’ve got for the casuals?
On the other hand, from my observations, 90% of the playerbase in D2 plays on Softcore and is extremely casual. Take away their teleport or their power farming where they can clear whole screens with 1 cast and observe their rage and terror. God forbit there’s any challenge in this game. They want it a simple slot machine, press button - get nothing or good loot. No actual gameplay involved.
So, I guess, THE MAJORITY of the playerbase is getting what they want, i.e. an even easier game.
We, the minority, who enjoy challenging gameplay, get “the longer one out of the three”, as my grandpa used to say.
