Before going to bed yesterday, and every day up until the patch today, I was able to play the game flawlessly on the highest setting.
Today when logging in, I noticed extreme fps loss in the menu screen before entering a game.
Upon entering a game and doing /fps, I noticed the game running at 10-15 fps, jumping to around 60 every 5-10 seconds, then back to 10-15, making the game virtually unplayable.
I also noticed that when alt-tabbing and the game is running in the background, the fps is stable at 60-65 fps (which is still lower than how the game ran before), but upon tabbing back into the game, the fps drops to unplayable levels again.
When standing still the game “runs” at ~40 fps, depending on zone, but as soon as I move, it drops instantly.
If I enable v-sync, the game runs at ~120 fps while standing still, but dropping instantly when I move.
This was 8 hours ago, and in that timespan I’ve tried the following:
Restarting the game Restarting my PC Scan & Repair the game Reinstalling the game Reinstalling and updating any drivers that came to mind Changing the game priority in task manager Optimizing settings in NVIDIA Experience Changing G-SYNG settings in NVIDIA Control Panel Played New World
None of the above made even the slightest difference, and the problem has persisted all day.
Any help or suggestions to a fix would be very appreciated.
I’m having this EXACT problem. Ran flawlessly on highest settings until today. PC temperatures are fine, everything is updated, I uninstalled and reinstalled, and scanned and repaired. I also played GTA FiveM flawlessly like usual, so the issue is not on my end.
i didn’t have any FPS issues so far with my PC however i had random crashes ever since launch. After contacting technical support i was advised to do the following:
Use DDU software to remove the current driver and download the driver again from the nvidia page. On a side note i don’t use GeForce Expirience and i did NOT reinstall it
After completing the driver installation i went into the autostart settings in the task manager and deactivated every program except “Windows secruity Notification”.
Once that was done i restarted my PC once.
As soon as all that was done and i started up Diablo II again and went straight into the video settings.
Resolution Scale: 90
Vertical Sync: off
Framerate Cap: 70
Ever since my game is running stable in terms of FPS and crashes.
Since the report does show the GPU driver being rebooted a few times by Windows (this happens if it stops taking instruction from the operating system), I recommend following Gulgir’s advice. Additionally, are you familiar with the ZeroConfig app on your system? It’s showing a lot of errors that would affect the connection.
I don’t know what ZeroConfig is and upon some investigation it doesn’t seem like it’s something I need so I deleted it.
Could the GPU driver reboot have something to do with my PC going into sleep mode? Because if so, that answers that.
I’m not familiar with DDU, but I’ll try and do a fresh install of my GPU driver and see if it fixes the issue, although I’m skeptical as there was no issues prior to the patch.
I did a clean install after removing all nvidia related files and folders and it seems to have fixed my problem. Or at least I can now play at a steady 80 fps on highest setting, which is lower than before, but I’ll take this any day over the alternative.
I’m having the exact problem. I’m going to try DDU now.
But if you really desperate need to play you can try my solution by first set resolution scale to 200% and then set it to 50% resolution scale and lowest-high setting. That made the game smooth somehow. I think it has something to do with our GPU can’t run above 30-40% since the patch.
I just tried DDU and reinstall latest Nvidia driver.
It did help the game from unplayable to playable now but I still can notice a lot of very short massive frame drop (130 to 50) so the game is not as smooth as it used to be at all. Even standing still somewhere can cause a big frame dip, it seems to be depend on the location a lot.
Here is my DxDiag https://pastebin.com/ueCyLDSS
Hmm since we having the same issue I though it’s better to make it in the same thread but okay I think I should go make my own new topic in bug report I supposed.
thats the worst idea ever, setting the resolution scale to 50% will make the game look like sh*t, regardless of the resolution you are running it on.
its not even viable on 4k and on 1440p or 1080p just forget it. on 1440p you can’t go below 75%, which will be a rendered scale of 1080p, as otherwise the entire game will start looking like absolute dogsh*t. on 1080p you basically can’t go below 100% res scale as it will render the game on a too low resolution and 1080p is already a low resolution so it will make the game look horrible either way
thats interesting. i actually went and looked into my dxdiag in the diablo 2 resurrected folder and found this:

I can tell you this much. those other “errors” are mostly for unreal engine games and i never had any problem with any of that game. all those games run flawlessly on my system with buttersmooth 16.6ms frametimes without crashes or ANY other problems. so those other errors, this “RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64” error seems to be irrelevant,
BUT
diablo 2 resurrected is the only game that provides a different error message. AppHangB1
Seems like Diablo 2 Resurrected is the only broken game i have currently, seems kinda clear to me. Or what else could that be, seems like you know much more about dxdiag debugging than i do so maybe you could help me out and tell me what you see here ??
Hey sorry, yea I tested HWMonitor today and the temps are all fine.
pretty stable at ~70c (never went above 80 in the past 2 hours)
That is actually what happened to me when I first did a clean install of my drivers, it would drop slightly every once in a while, until after an hour or so and it dropped permanently bringing me back to square one.
My performance dropped significantly after the patch too. (RTX 3070). Cant even get 60 fps anymore in some areas. Messing with settings doesn’t resolve it, unless I set everything to absolute lowest.
