Map reset for SINGLE PLAYER

Could we please have an option to reset the single-player map?

Let it works the same way as in online mode. The single-player needs to “save and quit” the current game and when restarting a new game it can either load the old map or create a new map.

It automatically forgets any old map data and generates new maps for a specific character if you change difficulties with that character. For example, if you want to reset a Hell map, you quit, start a NM game, quit, start a Hell game, and boom, your Hell map is reset. I guess you could call this a work around to what you’re suggesting, but this literally takes 5 seconds.

If you were already aware of this, then neverminded. It’s not a bad suggestion though because I could see load times for starting a new game in D2R being a bit longer with the updated visuals in the new engine. Hopefully the game is optimized well with snappy load times though.

A simple console command could do the trick, like /reset map. Maybe something like that already exists but I’m unaware of it.

Many people would hate this as they purposefully run the same map over and over for a reason.

Why? Changes only to make changes, no matter, if senseful or not?

We-already-have-that-fun-fact #21: To reset a Singleplayer map, you can create a TCP/IP game.

Speed runners do this all the time to get perfect waypoints for specific runs, like Beetleburst. They then leave the TCP/IP game and take their map back to single player.

As mentioned above, you can also change the difficulty, but that’s a bit more of a hassle.

No need for that, it already does that when u jump difficulties.

Hi Guys,

I don´t wanna interupt your flow of discousion, but there are some FACTS about D2R:

First there is no TcP/IP-option in D2R, so who said “we had it already” is having no clue of D2R.

Second one is: not every body has the TIME to play until last Lvl. in more or less 2 weeks, so the option to “CHANGE DIFFICULTY” can kiss some users “Darkest-Place-Of-Body”.

I agree with FROZEN, I also would like to have the choice to say, maybe use an other map today.

And Guys there are People that need informations, not funfacts or something like this. They also have an idea how the game works, but maybe not the ability to jump difficulties.

Actually I hate it when there is a queastion and nobody think about, how to write or give an answer.

It is like mom is calling, because of talking…

Single-Player files are stored on your computer, including the map files. Go to users-username-saved games. Find the character in question, and delete the map file (only map files, nothing else) and the game will generate a new map for you.

You’re welcome.

Also, it is a good idea to make a back-up of the orginal files, just in case!

Iwould only need a Button:
‘new Map’ works perfect

KingD,

Actually answers a friggin’ question, while everyone else (as in real life) pontificates pointlessly.

I would like the opposite. I want an option for the map to never reset, even if I change difficulties.

If you look at the dates on previous posts, you’ll notice they all happened before D2R release. They had some good info, and getting to Nightmare difficulty shouldn’t take that long. For casual players, a few hours to a few days can usually get a baal kill in normal, then resetting maps is doable.

In the battlenet launcher next to “Play” button is a settings wheel. Go to “game settings” and check the box that says “additional command line settings” and in the blank spot type or copy this: -resetofflinemaps

now every time you enter a game it will be just like in online mode where you get a new map. and it actually generates new map seeds unlike deleting the local map file which i tried and all it did was take away all the discovered spots. It was still the same map seed.

(You can also type specific map seeds in that line if you want / know a map seed that you want the game to generate)
