Map changes for patch 2.4 - My area 85 suggestions

Hello, since we are getting some change to locations where to farm , Here are my suggestion how to change them:

Crypt

  • change arealvl from 83 to 84 ( so champions can drop lvl 86 items and uniq 87 level items)
  • change number of elites from 4-5 to 6-8

Mausoleum

  • change number of elites from 4-5 to 6-8

Hole lvl 1-2

  • Change area lvl from 80/81 to 84/85
  • replace Misshapens with Gargantuan Beasts ( so place can be farmed with Lighting characters)

Stony Tomb

  • change area lvl to 85
  • increase number of elites
  • increase layout of map
    (this should make it farmable for fire builds)

Maggot Lair

  • Increase area level of floor 1 and 2 from 84 to 85( so champions can drop also everything and, this is great MF location for fire sorc btw already, but higher level should slightly help)

Claw Viper Temple

  • Increase area level to 85 (so it can be good location where to farm with lightning sorc

Tal Rasha Tombs

  • Increase area level of fake tombs to lvl 85
  • increase Treassure class of Ancient Kaa the Souless to TC87

Duriel

  • Decrease chance to drop junk
  • change his Treassure class from TC72 to TC75

Arachnid Lair

  • Make layout of map bigger
  • change Area level to 85
  • increase number of elite packs
  • change AI of spiders so they are more agressive
  • replace Sand Maggots with Beetles so location is more dangerous
    (this can be another location where to MF for cold sorc)

Swampy Pit

  • change area lvl to 85
  • increase layout of map and add more elites
    (first two floors can be another location for cold sorc)

Kurast Temples

  • increase layout of map
  • add more elites relative to how maps will be bigger
  • increase level of 3 temples which are area lvl 84 to 85

Sewers lvl 1

  • Add more light to map, it is too dark
  • Increase density of zombies and mosquitos
  • Increase area level from 84 to 85
  • Increase treassure class of Icehawk Riftwing to TC87
    (this will make map better to farm for fire builds)

Durance of Hate lvl 1-2

  • Increase area lvl from 83 to 85
    (durance is rgeat for fire sorc, but level could be higher so elites can drop anything as location is not easy at all compared to others easier area 85 locations)

Outer steppes

  • Increase area lvl from 82 to 83

Plains of Despair

  • Increase are lvl from 83 to 84

City of damned

  • Increase area lvl from 84 to 85

River of Flame

  • Replace finger Mages with Wraiths so River of flame is suitable for lighting dmg characters as farming location

Chaos Sanctuary

  • Fix Diablo Lightning inferno so it actualy do dmg if you stand close to him to make him more chalanging
  • change TC of 3 seal bosses from TC84 to TC 87
  • Decrease number of elites by 3
    (decreasing number of elites should compensate increasing TC of seal bosses and chaos is already too good location with Diablo at the end and his drop)

Abaddon

  • Increase are level to 85
  • Replace finger mages with wraiths

Pit of Acheron

  • Increase area lvl to 85
  • Replace Hell Clain with Night Clan(so there is no cold immune monsters here)

Frozen River

  • Increase area lvl from 83 to 84

Glacial Trail

  • Increase area lvl from 83 to 84
  • Replace Moon Lord with Night Lords (so there are not Fire immune monsters)

Driften Cavern

  • Increase area lvl from 84 to 85
  • Increase layout of map
  • Replace Moon Lord with Night Lords (so there are not Fire immune monsters)

Infernal Pit

  • Increase area lvl from 83 to 85
  • Replace Night Lords with Moon Lords( so there are not lightning immune monsters)

Ancients Way

  • Increase area lvl from 82 to 84

Icy Cellar

  • Increase map layout
  • Increase area lvl from 83 to 85
  • Add Oblivion mages to spawn pool
  • Add Unravellers to spawn pool
  • Add Dark archers to spawn pool
  • Increase density of monsters
    (my idea is to make this location very hard and challenging even more than it is now for people who like challenge)

Arreat Summit

  • Add quest drop to ancients, same mini boss drop as Council member have but not possible to Find item them, they will drop from TC87 but they will drop it only once as you complete their quest.

Halls of Anguish

  • Increase area lvl from 83 to 85
  • Replace Fire immune Flayers with their Cold immune version so there are no cold immune monsters on floor
  • Increase number of elites from 6-7 to 7-8

Halls of Pain

  • Increase area lvl from 84 to 85
  • Remove Blood Maggot from spawning pool (so there are no poison immune monster on floor)

Halls of Vaughts

  • Increase area lvl from 84 to 85
  • Remove Lightning immunity from Tomb Vipers

Matron’s Den, Forgotten Sands, Furnace of Pain

  • Increase area lvl from 83 to 87
  • Increase number of elite monsters
  • Add more immunities to monsters so every monster has 2 immunities including Maggic immunity
  • Remove all physical immunities and resistances of monsters in those 3 locations
    (my idea behind these changes is to make 3 uber location more challenging and extremely hard for caster characters and on other hand help to melee characters to have location where they can do MF and also dominate vs caster builds.

We need more areas to farm. I can add more feedback later when I have time to read your post in depth

I’m all for more farmable areas and shifting optimal farming meta to other areas.

Hear me out.

“We need more areas to farm” should not equate “We need more convenient easy lvl 85 areas”

We don’t want an easy game. We want a challenging game with mechanics that encourage to be creative; with a sense of progression; with encouragement (but not necessity) of party play. And of course we want to have variety in the gameplay - visit different places, fight different monsters, use different character builds.

By giving us a lot of easy level 85 areas for every damage type, you steal that. Every character with basic gear basically can park themselves in that area and grind it until level 97 (or even 98).

What I want to see instead is progression. You start with level 82 areas, progress into 83, 84 and finally 85, as your character matures. Or you could go to 85 straight away if you party up. For that reason, I think level 85 areas should be quite restrictive immunity wise and otherwise difficult.

Current state is Cold>other elements. I want only give same chance to others. I dont see it as making game more easy in general. Just removing obstacles for lighting and fire to increase variety in what people play.

I agree with this! But I think it’s overall beneficial for the game to give the ancient tunnels a slight nerf, rather than buffing everything all around. Suddenly, the playing field is much more leveled, and through less changes

Do you understand that this would make them the best droppers in the game by a long shot? What you are asking here are 3 lvl 87 pindleskins that a hammerdin can mow down in less than a minute. I understand that this is a bit of a convoluted design and perhaps something should be done to it… but not that

They actually only drop from TC78. I see upping that to TC81 or TC84, but certainly not 87.

What superuniques do need a buff in drops (or to be precise, a fix) are the Snapchip Shatter and Frozenstein (they actually only drop from TC78, despite what drop calculators might tell you). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jo2Y2_qekfA

I see my mistake I overlooked their TC, ok TC84 is more reasonable.

I agree, I would even give TC87 to both as both location they are in have quite dangerous monster setup.

Would like to see these changes.

+1 I’d like to see these changes and I’d like to see less fire immunes in areas like Chaos.

More spots to farm the better. I would really like the tombs specifically. It would be great to farm with a non teleporting character.
