+mana after kill doesn't work with assassin traps?

I just socketed a low-level helm and put three Tir runes in. My assassin gets the expected 6 mana per kill when using claws, but traps don’t return any mana at all.

What am I missing?

no traps work like minions so no mpk

Man, the number of hidden mechanics and total lack of even the most rudimentary in-game documentation is why nobody I know wants to start playing this game.

You didn’t kill anything, so why would it. Your spell killed it… not you.

Yes, it’s why no one wants to play this beloved classic and masterpiece of a game. It’s the game that’s wrong, not you.

And necro minions don’t suddenly equip a Grief if you equip one either. I mean it’s kind of common sense…

Just like traps use IAS for their drop speed, and aren’t effected by FCR.

I mean to be fair, it’s not really. “After kill” isn’t very specific. I would think it would work also. (The mana after kill)

Not really. I mean it isn’t you doing the killing, it’s a summon doing the killing. Would you expect life leech to heal a necro when one of his minions hit something?

Or for a Zon’s Valk to apply CB/OW because you are wearing some Gore Riders or w/e.

Thats exactly reason why people play it, because game doesnt hold your hands, its full of hidden mechanics to discover. So exctining.

I can throw a grenade and have it work, but I can’t throw a trap and have it work. It’s inconsistent and not documented in the game.

Or do you think that the way bps, poison damage and %ED work are perfectly reasonable?

How is it inconsistent? One is a direct damage attack, one is a summon/minion that does its own attacks automatically.

What uh…is documented in the game? Not much. Even less in Legacy D2. Somehow we all survived, thrived, and enjoyed the game way back when, when the internet was but a little bird. Now you have all the information for the game at your fingertips, yet you’re still going to find a way to complain? :disappointed:

Could have been worse, at least you didn’t try a griffons and put a lightning facet in it thinking it would help trap damage.

Ehhh… tooltips could be way better. The gaming industry has come a long way. Players dont want to make strategic decisions with long term implications based on misleading and incomplete information. Having the user alt tab to learn this from googling also breaks immersion. Its poor design.

i am sure you too made poor design choices 20years ago.
its not a new game for gods sake

I think we should be forced to go through an extended tutorial going over each and every aspect of the game in detail, otherwise I will get too confused :frowning: that they don’t include this is bad game design, just look at all the games now, I want my hand held otherwise it’s too scary and idk what to do. I don’t want to do any trial and error or any sort of thought process or testing, it’s my money and I want it now!

Nah, it’s you. PoE does the exact same thing. You are not the trap. Same way -enemy resist on gear does not apply to traps either.

Nah it’s definitely the game that’s wrong, we should all feel bad for OP, how dare Diablo 2 be the way that it is, it’s way too confusing and difficult what are we supposed to do, read the words carefully? Actually test things out? This game is a travesty of game design, no wonder no one plays it and it didn’t get a remaster 20 years after the fact. Is any of my sarcasm coming through yet? :stuck_out_tongue:

I mean in D2 no, but in other games it can. Just saying the *after kill isn’t very clear. I can see why people would be confused.

to be fair if a sorc is using MPK with her spells she gets mana back but traps and auras like holyfire and minions don’t, it’s not exactly fair
