All 4os base shields should work to create Exile, not strictly paladin shields.
For example, Metamorphosis is geared towards druid but can be made in any type of helmet, not strictly pelts.

No thanks. All it would do is make casters even more durable if they wanted it and make it mandatory for all melee classes since it is so powerful.

i personally would never use the current exile over spirit, for example, on a caster
no fury druid would drop ebotd for grief+exile
frenzy wouldnt even be able to use it
maybe ww and berserk barb?

I could see it being silly on a Conc barb that goes for maxed Conc + Shout, but that’s pretty niche.
WW doesn’t get the LT proc, but huge defense might be cool, but for Barb damage is usually a bigger problem than survivability, and 2x 1H PB is usually the hot ticket there due to IAS vs. weapon/shield.
Frenzy/Throw barb can’t use it. Berserk is pure magic damage so LT doesn’t do anything, and defense is set to zero every attack, so the Defiance aura is questionably beneficial.
Freezes target also means shattered corpses for horking.
Honestly outside the Conc barb I’m not seeing much a Barb would even want from it.
Seems like most casters and java-zon would want to boost damage instead, but that might be an interesting choice. Mosaic sin isn’t going to give up the 2nd Mosaic I assume. Fury druid wants 2H ebotd.

its not that good of an item, not sure why anyone would want it. its like using last wish instead of anything else. the only thing it has going for it is the defense scaling for builds that can make use of defense and a slightly better life tap proc than dracs. rest of the mods on the item are useless or counter-useful
the only reason people use it on a smiter is the better life tap proc, thats it lol
Outside of paladins, Exile would be most beneficial (via defense) to whirl wind, concentrate, 1 hand Leap Attack, or wear barbarians. Because Berserker eliminates defense it wouldn’t assist that build.
Single hand impale / jab can also benefit with additional life tap.
This reinforces the point that it should be created in all 4os shield bases - that its use remains limited
whirlwind doesnt benefit, and the rest get a slightly better life tap proc. phoenix would be much better with its massive damage boost lol
Benefits from the defense boost. Thats the primary reason to use the shield as a barbarian.
the defense boost is not that significant, and they dont need that. im pretty sure every whirlwind barb would prefer to double their damage with a second weapon

It is a large boost. Ethereal high defense shield + defiance aura can take 30k defense to around 42K+ without concentrate active.
Speaking regarding defense is primarily a pvp concern.
yes, it would have situational use in pvp, but i dont think anyone is gonna bother adjusting exile just for that

I think it might be an interesting way of making the act 3 merc viable. He now adds an aura and can provide life tap…

ya… idk about that one lol u know how often they swing? literally never. u know how often their hit lands after they swing? even more never. and then it has to roll for that 15% too…
