It would definitely be a great way to make D2 friends (or enemies
) . And a mode like this would be played A LOT in hardcore mode, it wouldn’t just be boring exp runs all the time. People could mix it up.
The problem with Round Robin is like… what if you are just constantly given Super Healing Potions while someone else is getting lucky and looting Shako, SoJ, etc? what a crap system lol. If they controlled it for Uniques, Sets, and runes and round robinned that, and let everything else fall into FFA – well thats pretty neat. Better than FFA.
as for balancing each drop mode… maybe? If you analyze in what cases you would want to use which game mode, the answer is almost always “personal loot is best”. Which is why people want personal loot. If someone really didn’t want it, they could just not use it, just like /p8 farming has the best actual drop rates, but people still farm solo or with friends.
There needs to be some consideration that the game is actually harder with more players in it, which is why the drop rates are increased. It won’t always be as simple as ‘full group of players mfing together with ploot is always the best for you’.
At the end of the day, Personal Loot would create more loot, but trade value and trade would not be hurt or hindered. You would be able to find trades much more easily, and you would be trading the same things for the same things you otherwise would have, because for any increase in item A on the market, there would be an exactly proportional increase of item B.
With Personal Loot, or perhaps even Round Robin if implemented correctly, yes for sure. I would almost always choose to MF as a group instead of on my own.
it would be a great way to make friends to do other stuff with, and it would just be more fun for me as a player.
Just forget it. You don’t get it anyway.
And I just don’t feel like repeating myself all the time anymore.
the majority you are talking about is gone 50% after 2 months and 90% after 6 months.
like a locust swarm trying to force a remaster into a expansion.
the core community will be left with the shambles once you are jumping on to the next AAA title.
I think all drop don’t need to be RNG distributed, at least the unique and the greens need to, for the rest i know some ethereal and some grey RW are worth , but this is gonna be a pain for all if they’re in the table (Imagine rolling everytime a grey drop on the floor … )
/yawn.
Right, it is only the true, “no changes” players that actually play the game. Everyone else is a transient casual. The shtick is tired. Move along.
The thing is only sets, uniques and runes should trigger the loot distribution. Is Round Robbin effective if someone is getting dealt sigons boots, and someone else a Thul rune?
My favourite loot system would be the Need/Greed system, because then someone could press “pass” on some of the items, and others would select if they want to roll for it or not.
But I guess the PoE timed loot would work just as well.
Right. If they do a Round Robin system, which I am actually fine with (I just don’t prefer it to ploot, and the evils of ploot that people screech about don’t exist and will never manifest as they describe), they would have to limit it to certain types of items. Uniques, Sets, and Runes. Perhaps Charms.
Hey this is an OPTIONAL system. You guys tell us “why do you want to remove respecs? don’t use them, problem solved”. Well guess what we get to say now, DONT use the optional system if you don’t want it.
yeah I think respecs babied the game too much and was motivated by WoW, that’s what I think (added to patch 1.13 in 2010, not Blizzard North)
I like respecs, so you don’t have to hold onto stat points until you are level 80 to get your strenght/vit just right. you can actually dump points into Energy while leveling so that doesn’t suck and then change your allocation when you find supplemental gear.
Frankly, it is also nice to try new builds without having to spend a day leveling a new toon.
Three for free and difficult-to-farm infinite option is pretty balanced, imo.
Thanks guys, it’s cool to have a conversation sometimes, and not just personal attacks because we have ideas (Middle Ages be like, lul)
Yeah I agree respecs helped the game in one area, but I also think they took something away from another.
It doesn’t bother me, and I don’t mind leaving them in as long as the tokens aren’t easily obtainable.
yeah, its been a fun thread. Its great when the space is constructive instead of nonstop trolling. I need to go to sleep. Later!
Same! Good talking to you guys, have a goodnight!
let me know if you make that thread with patch chronology and the changes that were made.
Some of these guys need to be taught a lesson, so I’m going to do it tomorrow.
My reputation is in shambles on this forum

I’ve always said people abuse calling others “pUrIsTs” because most people do, in fact, want some change or another, by far. I just don’t want existing systems changed. If blizzard wanted to add completely new content I’d be all for it. Hard sell though… don’t see it happening.
I sometimes call them purists because they tell us that we are not real players (most of us are +30 i think and play the game since 2000’s), it’s give and take, but I admit that it’s not the smartest thing to do
I just realized a major flaw with Eound Robin loot. Well two of them actually.
It can’t keep track between games, so if it’s only rotating very valuable items, the game creator is likely to always get the first drop per game.
Second, how does it keep track when you have eight players and they are all in different zones? When does it activate, and deactivate, and if all eight suddenly come together again, what is the order? When two of the eight meet up? When someone leaves and someone else joins? Are you going to want to be the eighth person into the MF game and be at the back of the queue?
It’s too much. It’s gotta be personal loot or stick with free for all.
