Me and a few friends were talking the other night and come to realize that, we all have some form of “Magic Finding Ritual” or “MF Superstition” that, in reality holds no actual proof that it works or affects anything lol but I am curious.
Do YOU have any weird MF superstition ? ritual ?.
I’ll go first…
When I am target farming for a specific item, I will find a white base and always keep it in my inventory
For Example; Recently I’ve had a white lacquered plate in my inventory for roughly the last 3 days or so, last night around 7:30PM MST, had my first tal’s armor drop.
My thing - get as much magic find as I think I can use, hunt stuff and see what drops. If I don’t need it, get rid of it; if I need it, wear it or save for another character.
RNG is unaffected by anything the player can do, unless they are directly affecting the code. So, I don’t bother.
Although, sometimes, I do get annoyed and tell the game to F off after the thirtieth time of getting nothing of use. Then, it tends to make me get something…
A lot of games seem to have this mechanic and im not sure how they are so in tune with a persons breaking point but every time, right when im like
“no, you know what, im not running this place again…”
the last pack, will always drop something that i’ve been looking for. and back at it I go.
If you want to find something, NEVER think about it. Always try to get the worst item possible in your head. The game will scan your mind and not give you something if you’re looking for it.
the amount of accuracy and truth to this hurts my soul.
I have yet to find an unique or even tal’s orb, HOWEVER on the flip side to that, I do have 2 Blackhand Keys (among various other necro wands the name just aren’t coming to me currently lol), and 2 Homunculus’ in my shared stash… In all my time playing D2 I have never played a necro :x
I keep getting a lot of items that aren’t suited for a sorceress.
Like the axe that dropped for me last night.
Brainhew great axe.
useless for me.
And now Shadowfang just dropped for me while killing Diablo.
Someone 15 years ago told me that killing meph in that circle will increase chances of getting better items. Its total crap and I dont force him there but when I randomly kill him over the circle and he does drop good stuff, I cant not think that maybe its somewhat true.
Also if I find some really good stuff from meph or andy, I automatically assume that its good rng for that specific game so I start farming ALL the bosses, including several unique monsters.
Our fun ritual was when ever we would roll a rune word or ID a high-end item we would do it an act 4 in front of Tyreal. But I just ID a HoZ and got a 150. lol so apparently that doesn’t work. lol
LOL I remember this! I used to try SO hard to keep him in that circle, also I remember hearing through the grape vine these gems.
“If you are under shrine effects it has a negative effect on your mf”
“never open a TP in the middle of your MF area”
I still do this, to this day… I am normally fairly loose with my routes, but If I get a good drop in 1 area, I am combing over the rest of the route with extreme focus and attention.
