Magic finding has changed

Up till about a week ago I was getting some pretty awesome drops. My runs consisted of Countess, LK, Shenk and Pindle. Great drops like keys and good runes from countess and an ohm in LK. But since last week the drops have changed.

I haven’t changed anything even the gear is the same. Have been playing d2 since it initially released many years ago but have never seen this before.

I tried going back to nightmare and normal but hell doesn’t drop anything over a thul rune since last week. Any thoughts or ideas? Bit confused here.

Lady Luck has become Miss Fortune. Don’t worry, she’ll come back around eventually.

RNG is RNG. Sacrifice a leprechaun for some more luck.

Alright Warwick Davis, where are you? :stuck_out_tongue:

How many runs have you done to draw any averages from?

you were having good rng and now you’re having bad rng

i went from finding nothing the past few days to finding a shako almost back to back off hell meph

now i’m back to finding junk

it’s how it goes lol

I really couldn’t say mate. I play the same amount as I did before though.

Some of the rarer items can literally take thousands of runs to find. Just saying

I see these posts day in and day out MF and drop rates haven’t changed they are the same as Diablo 2 1.14d it’s just rng you can go hundreds of runs before lady luck smiles on you again and sometimes you can get lucky results back to back.

Streaks of good luck can set up false expectations. Overall, it takes a decent amount of farming, weeks even, to start seeing any consistent progress.
farm for a month and take your average from all that and that’s probably about what you should expect for drop rates.

Ideally, you’re playing because the game is fun, regardless of what drops or not. I know I play and enjoy regardless if I get anything good or not from a session.

Like I said, have been playing this since it first began. I’m well aware of the ups and downs of loot drops. But this time its different. I haven’t gotten a rune above a thul to drop regardless of the number of elites/bosses killed. Love the game but confusing.

Well, the only way to really tell is if you establish a solid baseline, or someone checks the loot table files.

Ya almost assuredly it’s RNG. You could in theory go a whole year without a unique drop. Not likely to ever happen but possible. Not quite back to back but I think 2 games apart I found Tyraels might twice.

More interesting than useful but anything can happen, just be happy for the good days.

i started to buy item with real money. i could make more money with the time i invested in mf

You must please the RNG Gods.

  • Donate to the noobs.
  • Gamble 2.5mil gold away
  • Do not ignore that next lowbie unique or set item. Vendor it!
  • Pick up those flawless gems
  • Pick up those lowbie runes
  • Dance around Deckard Cain
  • Go kill everything in a zone you don’t normally go to. Tristram is usually good enough.
  • Sacrifice your firstborn child to RNGesus

Don’t just kill the bosses. Other monsters can drop good loot too.

Example, I did meph, and he dropped garbage, but killed the council members on Durance 3 and they dropped a Ko rune.

Same thing when running other places. I’ve gotten a few Hel runes off random mobs while running Nilithak.

My advice, switch it up! Go rune hunting in Ws2 or Ws3… Even Cows and Arcane sanctuary are nice. Even better in 7+Player games

(Rune hunting isnt magic find dependent, and all about clear speed!)

honestly the only item i’ve found from a boss really worth keeping were titans, an eth oculus and maybe war travs? i’ve found 95% of all of my valuables from chests. i made a CTA and an HOTO just from having the patience to open chests. i always keep 12-24 keys in my inventory. shako from random monster, viper from random unique monster, perfect chancies from a random unique monster and so on. pindle and andy drop unique rings every once in a while but that’s like the only notable thing from them and they’re always manalds.
