My “main” is lvl 84 summon necro, and I have no MF to speak of. I’m just wondering if you folks have any tips & tricks on how to improve my magic find so that I can actually get better gear for a change. I eventually will play and level up more classes, including a zerker barb, but for now I’m happy still working on the necro.
D2 Wiki suggest that Coldcrow in A1 Normal has the “best” chance to drop a Gull, which seems like a decent starting point if I put it on weapon swap. Just wondering if this is indeed a decent starting point or if there are better alternatives by now, given my ability to clear Hell and what not.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
p.s. I’m online but I play solo, if that makes a difference.
Magic rings//rare rings Magic Amulets//Rare amulets have a good chance of rolling with an MF affix.
Boots and gloves also. So any rare gloves, boots you see drop, pick them up and use Cain to identify them. 20+ is a good start for each piece. 100% MF will improve your odds by a lot, after that start seeking known MF items: Ali Baba, Gull, Skullders Ire, you can make Wealth with Lem Ko Tir in a body armor also.

Three perfect topaz in a helm and four perfect topaz in body armor will get you started. At 24% magic find for each perfect topaz, that brings you to 168%. Rhyme will give you another 25%. You should see a noticeable improvement in your loot at this point. You can also gamble for rare gloves and boots that each have up to 25% magic find. That will take you to somewhere around 250%.
This should be fairly easy to do once you’ve gotten to nightmare. At 200-250%, you should start finding uniques pretty reliably. I once killed Andariel on nightmare with 250% magic find, and every single one of her drops was a unique. No unique rings, though.
For low level uniques, you might consider making a new character and giving him or her a few million gold pieces to gamble.

My terrible gear as a whole means I’ve been prioritizing resists over MF until now (and my resists are still terrible, but at least nonzero and not negative <_<), aka I’ve been vendoring virtually anything that didn’t have resists, lol.
