Ever since the new patch from last week were updated, I don’t think I’m finding any thing at magic find. I’m currently at 400% which is 50% more than my previous before the update. I used to be able to find up to 4 shakos within a week of mephisto runs; now after 80 hours of grinding in a week there was nothing but rares and lower tiers of sets. Blame it for bad luck for 10 hours nothingness but a week straight seemed quite strange to me…
Did they somehow change the magic find percentage for the first time to deter people overloading the server? Did any one experience the same as I did?
No, just RNG being RNG.
If you went from 350% MF to 400% MF then it’s 8% effective MF for uniques, not 50%.
magic find has diminishing returns at some point. The more MF you have the worse it will get. A simple internet search of “D2 magic find diminishing returns” will provide pages of information.
Put it this way, 300mf is 136mf for uniques and 400mf is 153mf for uniquies. If unique chance was 1% then you new unique chance for each the above is 2.38% and 2.55%. (just as reference, not actual unique%)
Since the patch I finally made it to hell and on the run last night nightmare andy dropped literally nothing not even gold then hell andy dropped 4 rares.
that’s diablo rng for you.
Also
Magic Find % does not make:
-
More total items drop.
-
Higher level items drop.
-
More of a particular type of item (such as rings/amulets) drop.
-
More Exceptional or Elite Items drop. More of the ones that do drop will be magical or better, though.
-
More Charms drop.
-
More Jewels drop. It does make more of the Jewels that do drop be Rare, instead of magical.
-
The rarer Unique rings and amulets drop. It does increase the chances of a ring/amulet being better than magical though.
-
More or less Runes drop. MF has no effect either way.
-
MF is not factored into any item creation other than item drops. It does not get checked when NPC items are created, when you gamble, when you upgrade items in the Horadric Cube, etc.
If they didn’t revolutionary changed the probabilities, then I guess I’ll find out how long this straight will last. Being played this game for 2 decades and this is the first time of the drought.
I got an Arkaine’s Valor and a Raven Frost last night from just a few Baal runs. Someone else got a Tal’s ammy from the trash.
You actually have better chances for runes with no mf as the same amount of loot drops just less chance of rares uniques ie more chance for runes and other whites/non magic items
Nothing has changed just rng being rng I went a few days this week with no drops then last night I got 1 Lo, 2 Ohm, Vex and Gul for runes and uniques I got an eth skullders ire and arachnid mesh off one Mephisto kill then couple runs later I got a unique ring which was a SoJ then proceeded for the rest of the night getting mostly no drops.
I’d wager that the first person to figure out the algorithm they use for RNG will make themselves very rich on the secret.
Good luck everyone!
not true. mf will affect only items that are drawed to be dropped.
the games decide to drop monarch, then the mf will affect whether it will be white / magic / rare / unique / set item
having 0 mf does not change quantity of drops
Not true, MF only affects when an “gear” piece drops. As stated it does not affect the quantity. Uniques are not just “in” the pool. It first the base item has to drop, then it rolls the MF value to determine the quality of the gear. But having more or less MF does NOT affect getting more or less runes.
You might be thinking of countess and her rune drops can be affected by number of players, NOT MF by pushing the “rune” drops off the list.
I think there was an algorithm or something in this new remastered one. I used to get 4 shakos in one week; then the week after I found straight 3 Gheeds in two days; 5 Lysanders a week after…all these straights were happening with no other valuables dropped alongside. Call it coincidence but in the legacy game it never happened to me like this.
This is incorrect. MF does not impact rune drop rates in any way. Runes do not take up a loot roll from another item. They have their own rolls outside of the loot a mob can normally drop.
If you’re looking for item bases then you don’t want to wear MF, but MF has absolutely no impact on runes, either positive or negative.
Yes it has changed. Im a player who actully does runs, not buys gear off jsp.
Drop rates on all the classic sorc items have been tampered with. In over a month I have found 0 shakos. Zero. No arachs, no travs, no skullders, no occy…402% mf, but never find anything now.
Ive played over 15 ladder seasons, plus the years before they started and NEVER had this “RNG”. Ive already completed the grail too. Trust me, its been changed.
But of course you wont…just like when I told you people over and over that MF also effects QUALITY or RARENESS of items. But you wouldn’t listen unlit a blizzard shill (llama) told you.
Does not make sense, found all of the mentioned items, some even more than once.
Nope, it dont change. Found my war traveler hours ago after only 8 Mephisto runs. RNG is RNG, facts.
Lo, 2x Ohm, Vex and Gul in one night? That reeks of BS
