Typically when killing a boss for the first time there is a guaranteed drop from them. I rerolled a necro to play around with it and when I killed Andy for the first time, she didn’t drop a single item. I had 150% MF on the necro and never hit Andy once as I was just summoning my skeletons and letting them do the work. I thought the necro summons took on the MF of the player and would apply to the pets as well but not certain about how the MF applies to summoned pets now.
MF only effects the item quality, not quantity.
Yes but doesn’t the first kill on a boss guarantee a drop? I didn’t receive anything when I first killed Andy and noticed since switching to necro and allowing the summoned pets to do the work, that the quality in item drops significantly decreased.
Edit** In addition I also made sure my Merc was not alive at the time to assist with the damage. I allowed the summoned skeletons do all the dmg and get the final blow. No drop btw.
Update** Just ran Andy again allowed the merc to be killed so the summons would get the last hit in and again not a single drop from Andy
Interesting, try the other way around, let the skelly die and let the merc get the kill. The merc kills carry the MF on you and them, so you actually do want your merc to get the kill.
Keep trying with the skellys killing things, I am wondering if there is an issue with the skellys getting the kill that keeps drops from happening.
My Andy and Duriel kills happened to IM, they both killed themselves with IM, not a skelly getting the last hit. I know because all skellys were dead and I kept summoning my Clay Golem and letting it get. I got drops on both.
I have notised this also. If my Pets kill stuff drop is horrible. If I use corpus explosion its another game. And my assesin has way better drop… with less magic find. All the bosses that have been killed by my pets, have had no drop.
It is stated on the official old diablo bnet web site that minions take on the MF of their parent summoner. So if this is in fact happening then this must be a bug and perhaps you should file a bug report.
No way. I’ve just tested it myself. I let my minions kill a boss 4 times in a row without me landing a single hit and it dropped all magic and rare stuff as it should. It makes no differece.
It was just bad luck.
I have noticed boss drops are pretty bad with my Necro as well. Killed the act 2 boss on nightmare and I received 4 town portal scrolls and a couple of potions. I just chalked it up to bad luck, and it just might be. Boss drops however, have been very bad.
That being said. I find a ton of stuff from regular mobs and chests. Pretty much all my gear has come from them. I have so many set items that my stash is filling up. I also have almost an entire page of runes. The bad luck seems to be primarily bosses for me.
