I just got started on ladder, and have not much besides around 60 chipped gems. Are they worth anything on ladder, or shall I cube them up?

I use chipped gems to cube runes which can’t be sold to runes that can be sold.
Since 3 Amn + chipped Amethyst = Sol
3 Dol + chipped Emerald = Hel,
Since Nobody would cube Hel to Io, or Sol to Shael, chipped sapphire diamond seem completely useless to me.
I would only keep chipped Amethyst and Emerald.
