Low Level Set Question

Why is the level required for the Sigon’s Complete Steel set 6 but the earliest any of the characters can actually equip all parts of the set is level 8 with out charms and putting all attribute points into strength as you level up. You must have a minimum of 65 strength to equip the full Sigon’s set with only the +10 strength form Sigon’s Gage.

In order for each character to achieve 65 strength with only the +10 strength form Sigon’s Gage.

The Amazon and Assassin need 45 Strength which is equal to 9 level ups this means the characters must be level 10 to equip the full Sigon’s Complete Steel Set with only the +10 strength form Sigon’s Gage.

The Necromancer and Druid need 50 Strength which is equal to 10 level ups this means the characters must be level 11 to equip the full Sigon’s Complete Steel Set with only the +10 strength form Sigon’s Gage.

The Sorceress needs 55 Strength which is equal to 11 level ups this means the character must be level 12 to equip the full Sigon’s Complete Steel Set with only the +10 strength form Sigon’s Gage.

The Paladin needs 40 Strength which is equal to 8 level ups this means the character must be level 9 to equip the full Sigon’s Complete Steel Set with only the +10 strength form Sigon’s Gage.

The Barbarian needs 35 Strength which is equal to 7 level ups this means the character must be level 8 to equip the full Sigon’s Complete Steel Set with only the +10 strength form Sigon’s Gage.

You sorta answered it yourself. Because there are charms

Everything in Diablo 2 doesn’t necessarily have to make sense. Thing is, Act 3 Quest 4 yields you 5 free Stat points per Difficulty. Meaning if you Crush/BugRush a character to Hell and have someone complete A3 Q4 for you along the way, every character will get 15 free Stat points. That means you’d only need 40 Strength(level 9) for Sorceress, 30 Strength(level 7) for Amazon/Assassin, 35 Strength(level 8) for Necromancer/Druid, 25 Strength(level 6) for Paladin and 20 Strength(level 5) for Barbarian.

Meaning it’s possible to have the needed Strength prior to level 8 but, as you can see, only for certain classes. Then again… why does it matter if the Set has a level 8 requirement but requires a higher Strength requirement? As I said, some things in Diablo 2 simply don’t make sense

Except that the Sigon’s set is from vanilla d2, before charms were introduced in lod.

There’s also jewelry and gems

If you use the whole set it, without the shield(dual wield barb) - or with the shield if you are a paladin you essentially become invulnerable for all of normal and into a3-4 nightmare you dont need to put those first 35 points into anything else. I used sigons to make bumpers and then sell the socket quests when they get bumped.

P1 the return dmg on sigons 1 shots most mobs
Dual wield skewer of kranitz

Lvl req is often driven by the attributes themselves, at least on magic/rare/crafted items. I’m not so sure on Set and Unique items, as they are more custom tailored. But it’s entirely possible the attributes are driving the lvl req. Of course the strength requirements are driven by the base item types. It uses Gothic Plate, Great Helm, Greaves, Tower Shield, Plated Belt and Gauntlets. These are all item types that don’t start dropping until later acts in normal, and at the “higher end” of def/str requirements for normal item types.

As others have said, charms do exist. It’s up to you if you want to find/keep/use low/no lvl req +str charms AND put 100% of the first levels stat points into STR to get sigs online asap or not.

My guess is that it was never meant for a fresh character to run this set at such a low level, but to allow it on twink characters. You get the set and then equip it along with stuff with + to strength.

Keep in mind you wont find this full set until later in the game. So character 1 wont have it at level 8 regardless, it will be your character 2 and on that get the benifit.

Did early days vanilla sets not have a level requirement? I know that was true with uniques. So, that with charms could explain some wonky requirements.

Considering your average Sorc has more str than most melee’s I don’t think too much about D2 stat points honestly lol.

In theoury you could 3 chipped amethist each in an armor or helm and get 24 to str. Before level 8

While true, the Sigon’s set consists of both a Helm (63 str req) and body armor (70 str req). You could socket each, getting a total of 2 sockets, but since you would still need >60 str to equip them, it doesn’t really help in this case.

The gloves require 60 strength and give you 10 strength, so once you get them, you can equip the belt (also 60 str req) helm, body armor, and boots (70 str req). The shield does require 75 str though, so in theory putting an amethyst in the helm would let you equip it right at 60 character strength, however a flawed amethyst is only 4 str and a normal one needs clvl 12 for 6 strength, and by lvl 12 you likely would have the strength to use the shield anyway.

You could put a Hel rune in the Shield which brings it down to 56 str required and would enable you to equip the full set at 60 strength, though.

None of the normal base items that carried over from vanilla have a lvl requirement, and so the lvl requirement was likely added just to compensate for the high lvl affixes added to each piece.

Gloves: Giant suffix
Belt: Russet prefix and Wolf Suffix
Boots: Sapphire prefix and Haste Suffix
