Low drop rate in Hell difficulty

Ive been playing D2R on ps5 since it came out and Ive noticed an odd change in drop rates of set and unique items in Hell difficulty.Ive killed hundreds of Elite monsters and their minions in this difficulty setting and almost none have dropped set or unique items. My offline chars have done better but there’s a noticeable change in drop rate for my online chars.I changed to Nightmare last nite and saw 3 set and unique drop in 15 mins while a whole day of farming Hell difficulty yielded none.Im a 84 bowazon.I kill almost as easily in Hell as in Nightmare.Anyone else having this issue?

Not at all. Unique and sets drop like candy for me. What’s your mf?

Just killed meph and dropped 4 uniques.

My mf is 115% atm.Im talking about elite packs not bosses.

This is called RNG. You jumping into NM and killing uniques and getting drops in 15 minutes is pure luck. Just so you know, your average unique in Hell with 115% MF has a 1:28k chance to drop certain uniques. I plugged in andy’s visage to see and got that number from there. For a common set item like Tal Rasha’s Lidless Eye, it has around 1:20k. For certain items, they appear at a higher chance in NM than Hell due to TC (treasure class). You can google info on what that means. A good example is Andariel SOJ drop. People farm her in NM because the rates are much better than they are in Hell.

In other words, you need to know what you want and use a drop calc to figure out where is best for you to farm. You cannot expect decent drops in Hell from unique mobs due to now low of a chance it is. That is why people farm bosses (or tunnels, pits, cows) for certain things depending on what they want.

Oh gotcha. I still have no issues finding sets or uniques from elite packs but I have over 300 mf.

Your drop rate will increase drastically when your increase your MF, I run 499% and leave unique and set items littering the ground after most fights. Good drops are still a bit scarce, but more common than they were when I was only running 150-300 MF.
