can you elaborate? hc or sc and have you tried joining a new game and picking up your body if on sc?

If it’s soft core you can just get your items back.

If it’s hardcore, rip. Better luck next time.

If it was Hardcore, learn from it and try again until you succeed.

start over. this is an opportunity to become better !

once you lose a few youll swallow that pill easily no worries.

So you didn’t know how the death mechanics work, I am guessing you are fairly new to the game. Does that mean you didn’t actually die until you got to diablo? If so major kudos for that :+1:

Yes…surprisingly yes…first time I died was at Diablo at normal level :slight_smile:

So for future reference then, when you die you lose an amount of gold equal to 1% per level, up to the cap of 20% of your gold. If you have more than that on your person, the remainder will fall to the ground. If you have all your gold in personal stash it will take from that instead. If you put it in shared stash you don’t lose any gold at all, which makes gambling for items way easier than in OG d2.

When you get to nightmare and hell you start losing a percentage of your experience as well. If you get back to your corpse and loot it, you get the exp back. If you leave the game and rejoin your corpse will be spawned near you and you can get items back, but the exp is gone forever. Something to keep in mind at higher levels when gaining exp starts to become a chore.

Edit: one more thing, if you recover items by leaving the game and rejoining, the game keeps the most recent item for each slot across all corpses you left. If you die once, then put on some back up gear to help you get back to corpse or loot an item that gets equipped because the slot was empty, then die again, you will keep the items from the second corpse instead of the first where your better gear was. Be careful about that, you can lose some items permanently that way.

if u drop a portal before a a fight u know u may die from u can just take the portal once u die and click on ur dead body where u died and keep killing w/e ur fighting
