When we start the game go straight into Offline mode if that was the previous mode. This to avoid unnecessary delays and clicks when all we want to play is SP.
-
Please enable TCP/IP games again.
-
Mute Sounds key shortcut - like in WoW “ctrl-s” and game mutes. It takes too many clicks otherwise.
-
allow actionbars so we can use spells without mouse clicks - you have done it already for controllers.
-
Increase shared stash space so we do not need to use mules again and opening/closing games unnecessarily. There is no reason to skimp on shared stash tabs.
-
Look into fixing broken classes like the Bowazon. There should be synergies on her skills too. She does too little damage and solely depends on end game gear to tackle mid-game content.
-
Increase cash reserves on stash tabs, current 2.5ml is too low. Or make more stash tabs, whichever.
-
Allow lobby games filtering
-
Allow for character customisation
- ok
- Maybe
- Good idea
- No
- I see the point
- Maybe on long term
- I’m with you
- Hell yeah
- No
- makes sense
- sure why not
- sure why not
- I am conflicted here, it would be great to alleviate pain of costant clicking/holding of mouse but would have to think hard if it could be abused
- Yeah but I think they have problem with saves being too big hence some items vanished, but sure why not
- Yes and no, I dont trust them to be able to do it with finesse required. So would like it but cant really see it with today Blizzard
- Yea dont honestly care, the more the better you can gamble 10mill quite fast on circrlets anyway
- I preferred old lobby + regional and custom channels + yeah not just filtering but also to expand decription boxes - > would be great like only baal alive under 5 min game created or something…
- Nah does not make sense in D2, you can choose bases for enigma even now tho a bit
The shared stash is actually saved in a separate file so increasing the limits wouldn’t affect that
In any case, I agree with why I have to wait for the caption to appear in the waiting list and play it out to play offline (it does this with mods too !!). Plus. If you do not log in for 1 month, you will not be allowed to proceed from the queue until you log in. Why? Due to an update? Please. Let me decide in my offline game whether I want an update or not. If I had to wait for 300 people to log in once and then restart and start an offline game with the mods anyway, why is this a mandatory login.
Tcp/ip is bad news. Its not secure and promotes duping and cheating. Blizz posted why they removed.
Well, I dunno about “next” patch fixes, but some of these I certainly agree should be on worklists somewhere to get folded in.
- Absolutely. No reason why it should be “autologging” to Battlenet to begin with. (other than market promotion for their service)
- Definitely. If Battlenet has been shown to not be adequate for hosting online games without weeks of tweaking, the issues go a bit deeper than the game itself. (netcode, etc) If They want to prevent “cheating” online and so forth, they can simply encrypt Online characters so that people are unable to upload Offline saved characters into Online.
- Don’t see why not. I have a hardware button for muting, so it’s not as big a deal to me, but I don’t expect everyone to spend that kinda money on a keyboard.
- OG only had two skill buttons. D3 changed the skill system itself to cater to this. I’m torn on it but if they can manage to leave the GD skill tree functionality alone (not “talents” you can just switch to on the fly without locking into choices) and implement the ability to hotkey more skills, then OK. Currently you can only map to F-keys, so it would be a bit handy to have diff hotkeys, perhaps.
- I’d go with a stackable crafting items tab in the Stash to alleviate the space first. I think many people are utilizing way too much “shared storage” for simple crafting items and that should be the first step before even looking at expanding Stash itself.
- Agree to an extent. I think what’s “broken” is a bit subjective. The Assassin, for example has been relegated to a “passive turret” for meta gameplay, when the entire theme of the class was designed to be MA/Claws (which is why she has an entire TAB dedicated to Claw Mastery, etc.) She doesn’t even have synergies in those, etc. Bowazon could use some TLC but nowhere near as much as Assassin needs. I personally levelled a Bowazon to Hell without any end-game gear whatsoever… Assassin on the other hand is melee so it’s a bit more difficult to do.
- I don’t see why not. “Gold” in D2 can be rather plentiful and I’ve had to Gamble away quite a bit of it just to get rid of some to make room on occasion.
- Sure. I think the Lobbies need some TLC as well, I think it’s somewhat rudimentary at best. I can only speculate as to the “why”, but if they’re planning on pushing Bnet on everyone then they should polish it up.
- I just don’t see this happening. This game was really designed to be a “one and done” remaster of a 20-year old game which they don’t even have the original source code for anymore… for them to spend more development deeper than the exterior likely isn’t going to happen. I’d love to be proven “wrong”, here- because there really are some useful improvements that could be made, but I’m definitely not turning into a Smurf by holding my breath on this one.
Yes.
Maybe. As you say, it’s already there for controllers.
yes. Shared stash increase and stackable crafting/currency items of the same type is my wishlist.
I want to see some of the under performing builds/classes get a boost to make them more competitive (but not surpass) the current META characters, but I also share concerns that ActiBlizz/VV has the ability to do this properly. Would hate for it to take multiple iterations but support for D2R gets pulled before they can actually “finish”.
Definitely.
Do you mean something like D3 Transmogs where you could swap the visual appearance of the equipment you’re wearing for another piece of equipment for some sort of gold sink fee? I’d be okay with this. My barb does look a bit funny running around with Duress Wyrmhide right now.
If you mean allow things like skin tone, hair, body shape, etc. to be changed at character creation, then I think that’s a bit out of scope of the remake/remaster of D2 and would rather they focus that development time/budget on other areas.
- Stackable runs and gems
- Modernized game creation
- Merc revamp
- Melee splash
- New class
- New runewords
- Buff Unique items / Nerf Grief
- End game maps
Basically my main reason why I don’t want any new things, rebalancing etc in D2, faith in this company is sub-zero now.
Errm, right now we can play D2R “offline” with hacked characters, this is the method of experimenting before committing to a build. I do it all the time making level 85-99 characters with any gear I want and I test things.
However an offline character cannot possibly be used for battle.net Online, so I do not see the problem, my private characters and private games are completely isolated from battle.net Online.
And this might allow for proper creation of solid “no queues” servers be hosted by people that can do a better job than blizz…
It is a big deal, because the hardware mute button mutes the whole PC, say you were just about to accept an incoming call (Skype, Zoom, Discord etc) and you want to mute D2R quickly before you answer…
You can map to ANY keys currently, however you still have to right-click after selecting a skill, say Frozen Armour. I would like to be able to use it with one hotkey press.
Yes please fix all classes / skillsets which are currently weak.
Ah yes, I forgot about the merc standing in the background stuck behind the tiniest obstacle, while I am getting beaten…
Yes, please fix Merc’s pathing routines.
Yes of course I forgot that too…
That is not gonna happen due to security issues. Unless there is a superior method to TCP/IP that is more secure and would allow multiplayer mods then yes.
No because it begins to cross the line into remake instead of remaster.
Right now the only thing that I think that mules might be useful for is to hold sets and uniques that players want to keep for the gauntlet challenge. I will be personally testing that out myself. I think that the game in its current state can be played without mules.
Ah well it depends on what you mean by “can be played”. Are you talking strictly endgame? How many characters? How many builds? How about levelling your own characters? Then you need gear for level 1, 5, 10, 15, … all the way to the high 80s. For each class and each spec.
For example I started a Paladin yesterday, currently Holy Fire and Zeal, had to open all my 20 mules to find gear for him, and he is cruising through the levels, currently level 23 attempting Diablo, whereas other classes are still on Duriel!
His gear is not godly, how can it be at level 20-ish, however because of the mules I had great fun in levelling him and not having to stay behind and grind levels just because.
Therefore stash space is terribly important, I already use all 20 slots for characters and mules, and it would have been such a small effort from the devs, just a few more tabs on your shared stash to make it so perfect! They do not have to rewrite the core frame-driven core, just add a few more tabs to the ones they have already.
I believe in D3 they tried to exploit that by giving extra stash tabs if you bought the expansion(s), so maybe that is what they are planning here too, make money out of players’ frustrations.
You do realize that casters are not nearly as gear dependent as melee right. Keeping gear that would only be a modest increase in power. Also you seem to think that gear is always tied to spec when it isn’t unless you are talking class specific items that have plus to skills. But still those plus to skills will not break a build so bad that it is unplayable as your next paragraph shows.
Are they leveling uniques? because that is what they sound like they are. Now if they are rune words then they are not class nor spec specific. Ancient’s Pledge can help a lot of builds and classes, the same for the rune word Sanctuary.
This means at most you would be only holding a few rune words that could be kept on one character for leveling only. If they could be used by other classes and specs take Holy Thunder rune word for example
Then add in other space conserving things like not keeping every rune that drops, especially the early runes to maybe mid tier runes. The ones that can be easily farmed from the cows. The same thing with gems as well. Only keeping what is needed to be kept.
I don’t think that they will go the route of expansions for D2R. Because they would be crossing the line to making D2R a remake instead of a remaster. Could they tie stash to seasons by having us do something in seasons that everyone is likely to do like get a character to level 80+. Something that would be akin to doing Conqueror in D3.
Unless you are a mobile D2 encyclopaedia, you cannot know what items are safe to throw out at the time of looting, or even later. Having 15 mules means you got to go load them to see if there is already something comparable/better there etc for all situations you can envisage, mercs, classes, specs.
Storage is so cheap and inconsequential, it does not warrant all these discussions. We should have many more shared stash tabs especially in a loot collection game.
I think they may not want to cross D3/D4. However if there is appetite for an extra Act (or two), in the same graphics style as D2R, and I am 100% certain there is, it is a cash cow waiting to be milked. They’d be fools to let such a golden opportunity go.
- Yes, please. Would prefer to play with M/K but currently with controller gameplay is so much more smooth. They just have to enable the interface for controller also for mouse/keyboard setup. Also adding a force move keybind would be great.
its gonna take forever ! check the last patch to see how hard theyre working these days
one crash fixed - one that ive never experienced, looks pretty niche.
feels like its gonna be VERY small steps from now on lol
This means that Blizz in time must give us infinite stash space. After all there is no way anyone could know what is good to keep and what to vendor. I am sure there are those like MrLlamaSC that knows what to keep and what to vendor.
Tell that to the players that have had items disappearing. The increased stash has caused some items to disappear. So while you might be able to add pages get ready to see some of those hard earned items vanish because it is too much for the engine underneath to handle due to the file size for the character save. That is unless they have changed that recently.
What story are you gonna tell after the worldstone’s destruction? There will be no legacy mode for it since it is not part of the original D2:LOD experience. Do you increase max level? Put too much time in after D2:LOD then you run into Diablo Immortal’s time. This game is not something that needs that. It is better saved for D4 or Diablo Immortal to be the cash cows of the Diablo franchise.
This game is just here to help win back the D2 fans that were burned by D3. Along with being a good stop gap, something to keep us busying playing a Diablo game till Diablo Immortal and D4 launch. I am sure that if you throw in D3 you will have more than enough things to do in order to keep you busy. I know that I will have more than enough to keep me busy. Heck I can even throw in from time to time Star Trek Online when there is a reward from an event that I want to earn.
