I am curious. I know you get a reset early in act I, but after that, how hard is it to do?

Also, did they make any balance changes to the game, or is it literally as of the last patch of LOD?

For each difficulty, you get 1 reset for completing a quest in Act 1 and them you need to farm essences from bosses in hell difficulty.

## Diablo II Respecs[[edit](https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/index.php?title=Respecialization&action=edit&section=1)]

From [Patch 1.13](https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Patch_1.13), Diablo 2 players can now respec; there are two ways to perform a respecialization.

The first such way is to complete the [Den of Evil](https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Den_of_Evil) quest, granting one respec per difficulty completed in 1.13. If this quest is completed before 1.13, one free respec will be given to players on Hell difficulty. You must turn in the quest at the NPC Akara and after turning it in you will have the option to choose respec when you talk to her again. Be sparing with your respecs as it can take a while before you are strong enough to farm all the essences by yourself.

The second way to get a respec is to obtain the four essences as random drops from the Act Bosses.

* Twisted Essence of Suffering from [Andariel](https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Andariel) or [Duriel](https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Duriel)
* Charged Essence of Hatred from [Mephisto](https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Mephisto)
* Burning Essence of Terror from [Diablo](https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Diablo)
* Festering Essence of Destruction from [Baal](https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Baal)

Combining this four objects in a [Horadric Cube](https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Horadric_Cube) will create a Token of Absolution, granting the desired respec.

I’m starting out with hardcore. It was funny, so my first three levels I am like, vitality let’s go…then i see I can’t wield a better claw due to strength and dex requirements…and then the flashbacks from 20 years ago return!
