Infinity is good, but now mana become a problem. The game is not smooth. How you guys handle this ?
Merc with insight weapon and sorc pump skills on mana shield and warmth
Is this an energy shield nova sorc or a max vita/max block lightning sorc?
A Phoenix Monarch on weapon switch solved that mana problem for my 200 fcr nova ES sorc. But it is a very expensive solution. You can also take mana pots for cheap solution (you should always find some at boss packs to refill your belt slots).
Before the phoenix i had good mana reg, because of > 2000 mana and good warmth lvl with + skill items. But even this was not enough to deck out my mana consumtion without pots. Lightning skills and especially Chain Lightning and even more Nova are so mana heavy

Merc with Infinity. No mana shield.
Max block with storm shield. I have put 100+ points on mana.
For ES sorc, how many skill points you put on ES? I can steal the Phoenix shield from my LF Amazon to have a try although I really like the storm shield.
I put my rest skills into ES (have a lvl 20 ES with + skills atm). I would also recommend some + Life Charms, when you put nothing into Vitality in this case. With a cta you get good life and mana stats (mine have > 500 life and > 2000 mana). ES is very safe and they fixed the mana burn bug i think, which makes ES even better yet.I can recommend it.

The only bad thing for es sorc:
Blood Mana
This curse is only cast by succubus-type monsters and Baal. It causes magic users to lose life whenever they cast spells. However much mana you use to cast the spell, you will take the same amount of damage, reducing your life points.
You can die with a few blast of nova so beware.
Another thing to consider is 20 points.
I meant 5 ES with + 15 skills in my case. I would never max ES out (its better to put the points into synergis in my opinion). But when have some skill points over after your main skills maxed out, you can put the rest in ES for example. You can also use a +9 Memory Staff for ES prebuff, if you want to reach higher ES lvl.
But what is a must for ES is maxed out telekinesis (only set skill points counts here) because otherwise the damage to life/ mana ratio is very bad.

As i write in my edited last comment, you need also 20 points for telekinesis because of the dmg to life/ mana ratio on ES. I think ES is better for nova sorc, than for (chain)lightning sorc, because nova needs fewer synergies and you have more skill points over.

I still remember in Diablo 1, all my points goes to mana. And the Mana Shield is permanent.
With them fixing metal grid, running an insight iron golem might be an option too.
But my lightning/chain lightning sorc ran HOTO + Pheonix
ES Nova sorc wants 40 points in Energy shield + Max Telekenisis so around 95 or 96 you get to full power.
I think the extra sustain lets you farm the map faster than 200FCR build
If you have super good gear, you can do both. But its like GG caster boots, 100 mana amulet, GG ring and SCs, which is insane.

Metal grid is interesting . Played d2 for so long and never heard about it. Maybe worth a trying.
@nforcer1984 i’m a huge fan of phoenix monarch on switch. I run on 2 different toons and it does help alot. Also agreed with metalgrid, once they make it so iron golem doesnt dissappear, running insight there would be highly beneficial. On merc will suffice for now.
If the Iron Golem from Metal Grid Charges stay even after new games now, this would be a great solution. I use a Insight Iron Golem on my Fishymancer and so you are free for the merc weapon choice (mainly Infinity).
Edit: Bad news, just tested it with my fury dudus metal grid and summoned an Iron golem from a crap weapon. The golem was gone after a new game. Maybe blizzard can fix this in a later patch…

I like this set up as well. I switched out potions for identify scrolls on my belt.
I’m gonna edit because I am not sure these items work with an infinity set up. I guess I need to try one. Losing all those stats from spirit and any decent weapon is kind of off putting.
