Can blizzard dev team look into this? It seems that +Light radius on items basicly doesnt do anything. I was testing it for a while and it weirdly slightly light up only very little places on map and there is clear visible difference if you run game in legacy option where it does something.
I honestly really struggle in some location in D2R like ancient tunnels and it is very hard to see monsters and objects, same for many other locations, they are simply too dark and light radius doesnt help with it at all. And if there are flames around, its almost impossible to read it.
While i am at it, can be something actualy done about abilities on monsters? please make text more visible, its really hard to see it. I always have to check like 8x to be sure ancients donest have “fire enchanted” or something else.
I haven’t really noticed it in D2R, I figured it was working the same as original game, but yeah even in original game it was mostly worthless. Idk what to tell you tho, the “light” mechanic is part of D2, and it’s a good thing, you don’t want everything looking washed up and homogenized and bright like in D3
I’ve been wondering about this myself. I remember light radius actually doing something back in the original, but it seems to do jack all in the Resurrected graphics mode. Not sure if the devs are having trouble figuring out how to properly change illumination radius on the 3D engine or what.
This. I’ve had far too many close calls on my Zealot because I can’t read the monsters attributes quickly. I ended up letting one chase me half way across a map to make sure he wasn’t cold enchanted.
Always had a certain limit to the amount. I think was something like 5 on d2 nd on d2r about 8-10. At least on beta was those values.
Character has 13 and the cap was 18. Also keep in mind that isn’t only about the circle but all sources of “light” like torches and ambient lights. So in that regard d2r would be about 21-23 at max or in this case about 8-10 from gear.
Pretty much most of characters reach max light radius really easily.
The only problem is that posting here will do nothing to get this resolved. It’s best if you report it as a bug (which it obviously is). Bug Report - Diablo 2 Resurrected Forums
Actually light radius is more important for the pvp side of the game if you have small light radius, or negative light radius, your enemies or opponent can easily sneak up on you if they for example have a lot of light radius same goes for PvE. Slot of the time the monsters or elites can travel in big groups, and they can be extremely fast, and if your not paying attention, or your not on your feet or your reaction time isn’t the best, your going to find your self scrambling up all your potions and trying to cast a town portal because that mob of enemies came rushing at you from the dark and you weren’t expecting it. Light radius is great for survivability
I don’t doubt it at all but the current way they have light radius is either in town or out and about, until they fix it, the dungeons pretty much stay dark. But pvp side of things it works just fine, there for blizzard doesn’t seem to see a problem with it, and they will continue not to see a issue with it unless not just one but multiple individuals report the bug
It lights up the dark environments. I actually don’t mind the dark environments anymore. The super crisp 3d graphics just make everything too discernable.
I’ve been having trouble with it as well. I usually kept my light radius around 3-5 in D2, but here you get the slightest little blip of light to indicate that you equipped a light radius item, but sadly, it’s a useless blip.
I’ll look for the thread on this in the Bug Forum and add my $0.02. I encourage others to report as well, because as ^Rahtgaz pointed out above, unless people report it in the proper place, the right folks at Blizz won’t see it.
I think devs are reading this forum also. But i can probably move it there? The thing is i wanted to see opinions from people first and less people go there into bug forum. I certainly dont.
I posted in the Bug Report forum after my post here, in a previous thread, and it didn’t bump it to the first page, so I’m thinking maybe a new thread is needed there. The Bug Report Forums rules used to require that players search for their topic first and post in the existing thread, to help keep things organized for the moderator there, but maybe they gave up on this because there are no such instructions anymore.
I don’t know if you can move this thread or not, but the best thing to do is leave it right here and make a bug report thread in the Bug forum. You’ll reach more people with this thread left right here.
