Lets bring runeword: Fury closer to the meta

Currently:

40% Increased Attack Speed

+209% Enhanced Damage
Ignores Target Defense
-25% Target Defense
20% Bonus to Attack Rating
6% Life Stolen Per Hit
33% Chance Of Deadly Strike
66% Chance Of Open Wounds
+5 To Frenzy (Barbarian Only)
Prevent Monster Heal

It has everything except crushing blow, indestructible and 400% ED.

Crushing blow might not be appropriate, but indestructible and 400% ed is.

It costs a Jah! Make frenzy incredible. Add another HR if need be!

I would also love it to give Frenzy to all not just barbs.

It does in a way, if you use it on your a5 merc! Im not sure how beneficial level 10 max frenzy could be for other classes.

Frenzy requires dual wield, so the only other class that would benefit from + frenzy for all classes would be assassins ( if you could make in claw base). This is fun, however, Frenzy unlike Whirl Wind (gained via Chaos claw ) has synergy intensive damage requirements, making it less advantageous as a damage skill for non-barbarian class.

Fury rune word does need to be refreshed, however.

First, retroactively nerfing grief would help to balance fury, and all other melee weapons. though, even with that it still needs more.

Rather than up Fury damage via the standard indestructible / repair, and higher ED, i would like to see it upped via special abilities according to its name / original stats.

I would edit as follows:

*25% Chance to summon Hell Lord ( (Frenzy Demon ) up to 3 ) on attack ( Formally Prevent Monster Heal )
*+209 damage ( Formally +209% Enhanced Damage )
40-70% Increased Attack Speed ( Formally 40% Increased Attack Speed )
66% Chance of Open Wounds
33% Chance of Deadly Strike
-25% Target Defense
20% to Attack Rating
6% Life Stolen Per Hit
Ignores Target Defense
+5 - 10 to Frenzy ( Barbarian only ) ( Formally +5 to Frenzy (Barbarian only))

Receiving greater damage via

  • Hell lord ( frenzy attack ) summon(s)
  • Flat added damage ( when used in single hand, or single hand-wield of two-handed sword, which better fit with the concept of utilizing a frenzy ( requires dual wield) weapon )
  • Potentially higher Increased attack speed
  • Potentially higher frenzy skill bonus

Crushing Blow is ALWAYS appropriate

Except that would just make it less useful, since you’d only get +3 to Frenzy on Barbs, instead of the current +10 possible by dual wield. No other class could use it, since only Barbs can dual wield… hmm, I guess it could be used by an Assassin using dual claws…

Okay, so one way to make it more useful would be to remove the Barbarian Only part, which would make it less useful for Barbarians, but more useful for Assassins, maybe. You could use Frenzy to get a lot of increased attack speed, which is actually not useful for most Assassin skills… but maybe for a Dragon Claw Assassin?

Need someone with more Martial Arts experience to say what needs to be added for a Dragon Claw Assassin to make use of it.

Otherwise, give it +5 to Fury and +5 to Maul. As O-skills. And let Frenzy be used in wereform.

There, now it can be used by a Barb, either with Beast for a Frenzy Maul Wearbear or with Wolfhowl for a Frenzy Fury Werewolf.

Only one that could use it would be sin as you need 2 weapons for frenzy

You could give it +1 Frenzy oskill and +4 Frenzy (Barbarian Only), which would still allow barbs to reach +10 Frenzy with dual Fury and it would also be +5 Frenzy (or +10 for dual Fury) for assassins due to the way oskills work:

  • Oskill level can be increased by equipping multiple items supplying the same oskill, bonuses to All Skills, to Fire Skills (if oskill is a Fire Skill), or class-specific bonuses to the same skill: Teleport oskill from Enigma will benefit from a staff supplying +(1-3) to Teleport (Sorceress Only), even if the equipping class is not a Sorceress.

The bolded part would apply to Frenzy in this scenario, it’s the same idea as Passion (+1 Zeal oskill) in a scepter with +3 Zeal (Paladin Only) which would give +4 Zeal even to non-paladins.

Why stop at 400% ed? Why not 1000% ed.

I do wish Fury was better.

Crushing blow and/or chance of amp on hit would be my ideal.

I absolutely wished that they added CB to the runeword: fury…however, I also think that is is deisnged on purpose…if you look at assassin weapon, or even the sets, its alsmot specificly design to block as much CB as possible (No CB on any claws, nat set cover gear slot that usually offer great CB)

I use it on my A5 merc, with an Headstriker, Areat’s Face, Forty and now he’s a lawn mower. :grin:
