Leave Game Running All Day?

Does D2R have the same timeout like D3 does? You know, when you sit idle at the character screen for too long in D3, the game client disconnects, does D2R do that? My before breakfast game time has spent entirely at the same number in the queue. Instead of exiting the game, what if I run some errands and when I return and if it made it’s way through the queue, can I just leave the game at the character screen so that the brief moments throughout the day when I can play, I can actually play or will the game disconnect because its been idle at the character screen for too long?

It’ll crash!
There is no kick timer per-se but if you leave it running all day you will come back to a crash report window or just the desktop.

haha. I was just thinking about this as I saw this post. I played for hours and logged off for maybe 10 minutes to now be stuck in a 127 queue that hasn’t moved in 15 minutes. Why even log out…

Is noted above it might crash if you leave it running all day, however it may also crash when your ingame :stuck_out_tongue:

If it doesn’t crash however, you will remain ingame / start screen until you continue playing or log off.
I don’t log off when I need to do chores or even when at work, because I’ll often do a few runs during that time and the queues force me to stay online if I want to do that.

After sitting here for 30 min trying to log in, I think the message Blizz is trying to send us is that we should leave it logged in all day. What else can we infer when we must spend over 30 min just loading into a game?

Leaving it logged in is part of the problem. It prevents other, active players from joining.

From everything I’ve read from Blizz (it didn’t take long), they are throttling the number of transactions (i.e. PLAYERS) in the game at any one time.

So, while you’re out having a burger, someone is sitting in a queue, unable to play.

Don’t get me wrong - I understand the sentiment. But, this approach is a “two wrongs don’t make a right” thingee. With the first “wrong” is Blizz screwing up network and database planning that forced us into this abomination in the first place…

Leave it logged in and they can report higher customer engagement. It’s a win for them!

Saw a game wednesday need rush please. This game was over 14 hours. So apperently no auto idle disconnect.

People who try to stay logged in even tho they’re not even on their computer or at home because they don’t want to wait 30 minutes in queue, making the queues even longer for people who actually want to play, probably are the same kind of people who would scam others or run bots.

just to give you an idea why the Q takes so long is i logged on at around 11 am. Had to leave for a while so i left my game on, character sitting in act 5, and left at 1 30 pm and returned at 9pm and continued playing until 2 am.
Im sure im not the only one doing this to avoid the Q.

This is exactly what’s happening

nah my brother stayed afk 7 hours in act5 town no problem.

as long as you dont crash youll be fine apparently.

+1 Support to afk in game. I realize a lot of people are gonna scream murder, but, they can scream, oh well.

There’s no auto afk kick, hence, it is perfectly within our given ‘rules’ to do this. And i reckon many many will be doing it.

Times tickin Blizz. Queue hasn’t gotten any better, but most importantly, its still here. Might wanna hire just a couple more guys to work on that ‘db issue’,

“It’s seems you have been playing for 2 hours or more. Sorry no refund.”
“2 hours or more in Queue…”
“There is no way for us to discern how you spend you time in game, thank you for your money!”

That looks like a genuine Blizz reply…

Except for the “Thank You” part. Didn’t sound right for some reason…

Right, it should read: “We have your money already, bye!”

Yes you can leave it on all day, somehow even when my gaming computer goes sleep mode you’re still in when you come back. If you’re lucky enough not to crash that is.

Started teleworking last week and been leaving it on all day so I can play after work.

And people running a red light are probably the same people that kill others for money…
What a huge non-sense.

I mean the fact I can do that, just shows the amateurism. They can’t even get rid of afkers to alleviate their queues, never seen that in any online game I played lol
