Ladder ANNOUNCED + NEW items and balance changes incoming

Early next year! New ladder only runewords, Merc changes, balancing sets and character balance changes!

Seems like hydras, martial arts, fire druid skills, druid summons, necro minions, melee java, bowas, throw barb +melee skills, bone necros, and auradins, will all get some love.

There will be a stream on Twitch with Mr. Llama and the D2R devs tomorrow:
December 16 | 11:00 AM

My only concern here is classic. Amazon & Necro are great on expansion, but the lack of magic throwing items & the inability to move summons between acts really hurt them in classic. Also, we need some good way to transfer items between characters.

Ugh, 404. :frowning:

edit: It’s back up!

perfect! looks like they aren’t reinventing the the wheel (their own words), just adding some small minor tweaks per class

also not nerfing anything already existing, which is great

Yeah I was having issues too. I had to keep it open in the Facebook browser. Reading it all ahhhh. So exciting.

On Sorceress: “Lastly, we’re also revisiting Fire skills, to improve underused ones, like Hydra”

!!!

ARE WE GOING TO FINALLY HAVE A HYDRA-VIABLE SORC?

Yessss! Can’t wait for these changes tbh. Also excited to see them buff some other lightning skills like nova that aren’t really viable pvm wise.

Exciting. These upcoming changes are a welcome addition. Some nice, presumably middle of the road changes for the benefit of the game sparking new builds and gameplay. Nothing crazy that would ultimately reconfigure the core aspects of the game and the gameplay therein.

Yes, very cool. Hydra is the best looking skill in the game, nice to see it get some love.

Great news overall, from the eyes of a purist like myself.

I hope that class balance is achieved and more viable builds emerge, without sacrificing too much the already low game difficulty.

Overall very happy with this preliminary report. And no absurd changes like players command, mechanics rework, or any other drastic changes to the game we all love.

On Paladin: “We also see an opportunity to scale Offensive Aura skills as well. This includes making improvements to AoE Damage auras to make them more effective at closer range.”

Hmm, higher damage at closer proximity? I’ll definitely have to make a shockadin again.

For sure. Hopefully they make FoH work nicely for PvM also. Saw that it was mentioned and I’d like to see another holy type build, aside from op hammers.

As long as the core mechanics are not changed, this may prove to be invigorating! Let’s remember that this isn’t the dev team from Blizzard North. Their goals and insight for this game will not be the same. We can at least stay positive for these upcoming changes.

This is the best news. So looking forward to this and future updates.

“We’re balancing elemental damages of Skeletal Mages and making lesser used Golems more effective.
Additionally, we see opportunities for Bone skill improvements in high difficulty. We’re tweaking synergies on this front.”

The Mages will RULE!!!

Love that they are going to try to fix a few things.

"We also want to improve Thorns so that it can scale better and deal more reliable damage at higher levels. "

You can’t buff thorn without buffing IM! can’t wait!
