I just completed the campaign for first time along with expansion. Should I dive right into the next level difficulty or stay where I am and do some farming? If there are more suggestions I’m open to hear them, thanks.
Do what you want, you can stay on normal, dip your toes in nightmare, get prepped, reroll, etc.
It’s an experience that you gotta feel out to match how you play and if nightmare is too much for you your normal progress is kept.
I’d recommend farming a bit more gear in the current difficulty level if you’re not ready to take it on yet, but you’ll probably want to determine that for yourself.
If you’re steamrolling the content on Act V and yawning, you’re ready for the next difficulty level. If you’re taking massive damage and it’s taking a while to kill stuff, chances are you might want to buff up a bit more.
wouldn’t hurt to dive into the next difficulty, see if your character is up to the test, if your find your struggling you can always make a game in a lower setting and do some baal or cow runs, find some better gear and climb the ladder to hell (or would it be descend the ladder ?)
The point of this game is to get good enough to clear the map in a pk game and camp the bodies until people leave.
experiment with different builds (there are quite a few)
Hunt for really cool rare items (there are loads)
Pvp (its a bit rock paper scissors but its still fun)
Go for lvl 99(good luck lol)
Speedrun the game (watch mrlamasc)
Practice for the ladder (sort of like speedrunning)
Challenge yourself to solo self found (no public games only playing alone)
I could go on one of the cool things about d2 is the amount of stuff you can do with it.
The ultimate time killer is the holy grail.
Collect one of every single unique item in the game personally. Its a mammoth task only the truly legendary will ever manage it
do ~9000 chaos runs or baal runs
the endgame is just sitting there pulling the slot lever until some juice drops.

Just advance through the difficulties as you feel that your character is capable of killing the monsters. There is a bump on difficulty from normal to nightmare, but if you were able to kill baal, you should be able to kill monsters on Act 1. There you will be able to find somewhat better gear also. If not, just keep leveling on normal, the Cow Level, Act 4 - The Chaos Sanctuary and Act 5 - The Worldstone Keep are all good places to farm exp and items.
Usually at around level 32-35 you should be good to go in nightmare.
I’d go to act 1 stony field, find the portal to tristram, go to almost the most western point and find Wirth, click him grab the gold and his leg (jup the leg), tp back, buy a book of townportal (must be a book), put the leg and the book in the cube and transmute…enter the red portal and have fun!
After that, just do what you want, go to NM and try fighting there or kill more things in normal, it’s all fine and you can switch between Normal and Nightmare each game.
If an area is to strong, take a few steps back and kill things before it, gaining levels and finding better gear, then try again
Here’s what you do. Plow through the difficulties until you start getting killed frequently. Go back to the last boss you could before you started dying and keep running them, unless it’s duriel, don’t farm duriel. Your looking to get levels and gear so that you can keep plowing through to the next boss and run him. Rinse and repeat until your in hell, then, welcome to where the game begins.
First of all, did you enjoy it? I remember playing the game slowly, listening to every dialogue, opening every chest, kicking every jar, watching every cutscene. I did it again this time around too!
What class are you? What’s your gear like? Nightmare and Hell can be rough if you don’t know what you’re doing and where to farm for gear.
i made a forum post go read that one
