Just checked out diablo immortal

This company really has no shame and it’s disgusting. The p2w and loot box crap is targeting children and you know it. I don’t want to hear a blue respond or some bull crap excuse you guys are gross and i’m done with you. I hope this company fails miserably and none of you work in the industry again how the hell do you even sleep at night?

If young children are being given unrestricted access to cell phones with loaded credit cards, that sounds like a parental problem and not a Blizzard problem. Even on PC, if a child has unrestricted access to a credit card, more of a parental issue than Blizzard.

No different than any modern console or Steam with a store that has purchasable content, whether that be games, or otherwise. You can argue that it’s scummy, you don’t like being incentivized to spend real money, etc. However, playing the children are victims here excuse really is scummy. Blizzard are not your children’s guardians.

quick update just saw this on reddit check this out. it costs a minimum of $110,000 to get a full 5 star set per character. ya you guys are gross. Stop defending a giant corporation dude your just a cash cow to these people. I don’t care if it’s suppose to be for adults this is absolutely filthy no matter how hard you try to spin it.

It is very predatory, not unlike a drug dealer. I’m usually fairly libertarian about things, but on this issue it is the right move for governments to step in and ban this kind of business practice.

On the other hand, I don’t necessarily blame Blizzard themselves. They owe it to their shareholders to put out a product like this. Products like this are legal and extremely profitable. From a business standpoint, they have no choice. But this is also why I believe governments should step in.

Not to mention the Chinese spyware in the game files disguised as “steamer tools”. lets hope Microsoft fixes blizzard on the buyout.

Just so people are aware, the storyline can be completed without paying anything.

You can grind for gear without paying anything.

In Rhykkers latest game news video, he said he doesn’t feel like he’s being paywalled… yet.

Just like Diablo 2 item sellers making cheddar off of fresh ladder economies. Except it’s Blizzard itself profiting as opposed to just the shady backroom organizations.

As for everyone crying about being predatory; that’s life. Just like the girl scout’s with their hands out for money in front of the grocery store, or the religious groups looking for donations in front of Wal Mart that directly come to greet you full well knowing that you see them with their booth set up. People and organizations as a whole are always offering a hand to take your money. Cell phone companies constantly sending you texts for upgrades, anytime you give out your email, that information gets sold to solicitors trying to get your money. This is nothing new when you compare it to life.

Even GingerGM has been playing DI, seem him streaming it last night. Outside of making forming his guild or whatever it’s called in DI, it doesn’t seem like he’s spent any money.

I think a lot of people are excited about this game, and I get it because it’s actually fun to play. But a lot of the end game months down the road dynamics are not apparent yet. I see some arguments saying that free to play players are dominating PVP. Well it doesn’t matter if you whale when you have no idea how to play your class and you suck, you’re not going to beat people who know exactly what they’re doing. But a whale who knows just as much as a free player is going to completely dominate the free player. That will be how this all fleshes out.

You can potentially grind legendary gems. One or two stars only. And the chances of getting them without paying any money are astronomically small. To just get what even low-paying players will have will be like getting several enigmas.

Now again, maybe this won’t bother some people. I don’t personally understand it since I don’t see what the point of playing a game is when you are constantly the one holding everyone back in groups. But to each of their own I guess.

Lawsuits can potentially change things. A recent OW lawsuit failed, but OW loot is purely cosmetic. There’s a current lawsuit over Hearthstone card packs. A Fortnite lawsuit led to them getting rid of “loot llamas” which I guess were random loot boxes, I don’t play that game.

This is just the initial menu, wait until the population goes down and the prices need to go up to satisfy the shareholders.

This kind of practice offers less per dollar, or they wouldn’t be doing it and will only increase if not pushed back.

I don’t care what obligation they have to shareholders. I only have one game left they offer that I might buy, D4, but if any macrotransactions are involved I’m out…which probably means I’m out because DI will tell them what to add to D4.

Imagine running a marathon and people were paying to be crowd surfed to the front where they are declared the winner. And then when you say it devalues the point of the marathon, you are told by other runners that you shouldn’t care because your running has nothing to do with them.

Some of the defense of this game is just bizarre.

Yeah same with a naruto browser game I stumbled across even worse. You can have 4 guys on the field and later on “have to” get more people and somewhat equip/train/lvl them and much more. Let’s just take your 3 (cause you can’t change your main guy), just 1 one of them, to 5 star (and I am talking about full R word mode p2w best of the best like Madara Naruto in god mode form and stuff) 1 of them, fully (perfectly) gear and train them (and remember that’s just ONE character) you have to pay 140,000~ bucks. Funny how people, like Asmongold which hated skins/cosmetic (like in League) aKa Shop mounts in WoW, are not only playing Immortal & Lost Ark, but also whaling it. The irony… Asmonbald the (“I am always right and if I am not I still am, cause I am special and F you”) bender of hypocrisy  .

I don’t really follow the guy too closely or get into all that but I know he’s doing that to mock the D:I P2W model. He’s literally keeping a cash dollar running total going across the screen while sarcastically saying it only took him that amount of money to achieve what he’s doing right now. It’s a pretty funny gimmick, but it seems a lot of people are misunderstanding it.

I seen a clip on youtube a couple nights ago with someone flashing “Whale” and “Nerd” above their head when Asmongold walked by. However, at the end of the day, he’s a fairly well off financially streamer, that has the money to burn. And him purchasing power just playing the story, is not giving a true impression of the game and just a bias that you have to buy power to progress. I’m level 30 so far, and have had little trouble with the game.

Asmongold just bought something called Token Of The Worthy for $26, and then it told him he can combine Token Of The Worthy with another token to upgrade to something else for $99, LOL

Both Nintendo and Sega made millions of dollars from mobile games, Blizzard just wants the piece of the pie.

I hate how League of Legends is. The game is good, the skin concept is good (no advantages not even in TFT (which surprised me positively) ), but the only 2 major things which stink, are the toxic playerbase which can DO whatever they want (throwing/intentionally feeding/wintrading/spam ping someone till you block the person), cause the only thing they harshly ban you for is insulting. So imagine you could openly bot (what the majority of playerbase esp. my jsp “friends” do), dupe and what not, BUT you are not allowed to insult someone, that’s basicially LoL in a nutshell.

I wasn’t expecting less from you

Such a ridicule logic

Replace the Mtx aspect with Child predators…

TanisGunthar: “ it’s the lack of supervision from parents that is the problem not the predators”

Bad behaviour isn’t excused by lack of protection lol

Ya know when you reach adult content on the internet and you are forced into an age verification by inputting your credit card? This isn’t just a scam to charge your card, it’s to protect against minors accessing content they shouldn’t. This has been around for at least 20 years, and has served as a barrier to entry.

To make purchases on DI, you have to input your credit card. If little Johnny or Jane is doing so, then there is either a parental issue of lack of care, lack of saneness in handing a child a credit card, or a theft issue, which could also be the lack of parental involvement in their child’s life.

To say that Blizzard is exploiting children with this game, as op has stated, is an attempt to absolve parents from being responsible for what they allow their children to do, and paint Blizzard as evil for doing so.

Now don’t mistake me being an apologist for bad mtx policies. There are bridges that are too far for me. I don’t hate on DI because it doesn’t hide the fact it is a free to play game with mtx. However, there have been console games I have refused to buy due to day one purchasable on disk dlc (Street Fighter X Tekken comes to mind). Many of the folk complaining about this game have no compunction using item selling sites or JSP to get ahead of legit players, but god forbid they pay money to the actual game devs on a free to play game. Folks are just scared about the snowball effect and think their tiny little voice will overwrite the millions that take things as they are.
