Yes I know enough to put this in the bug report section of the forum. But I am also posting it here to make people who don’t go to that section of the forum, there is a game breaking bug you should be aware of.
On occasion the game will generate the maps with no exit access to the next section of the act, area, or map.
This happened to me in the maggot lair where the access to level 2 was never generated and yes the entire map was uncovered.
This again happened to me right now while playing. There is no access to the underground passage The game didn’t generate it. There is the den of evil, and the cave, but no underground passage in the area it should be in.
And no this has nothing to do with not looking around and I missed it, I have the entire area uncovered showing the game didn’t generate it. Also this isn’t like a portal where it disappears once you get far enough away from it, once uncovered, it stays on the map and you are and you can see it by moving the map to that area regardless of where you are.
Since the mini-map doesn’t work, I am in the process of taking screenshots and then piecing them together showing the game didn’t generate it.
Have never seen this happen. On two occasions I’ve seen an Andy cata map and a Durance map where it took me much longer than I wanted to find the exit where I was beginning to doubt it’s existence…but its there.
Giving you the benefit of the doubt here that you’re actually seeing the bug, but I’ve ran countless farm runs now and have yet to see this.
Yeah this happened to my brother actually though but it was on Durance of Hate level 2… he couldn’t find the exit to level 3…
A lot of the time the exits won’t appear on your mini map, which is also a bug, I’m sure the exit was there but you’ve become so reliant on using the mini-map that your brain probably thought the exit didn’t generate…
When this happens I usually close my mini map and look for myself to see… it can be kind of confusing.
I think that’s all it really was… This happens to me all the time, the graphic for the next level doesn’t show on the mini map but I know it should be there, just tab your map off for a second and check the area.
Nah that isn’t the case, I’ll post the map and you will see, all areas were explored and with this specific access it’s not something that would only show up while you’re near it. On the map I’ll be posting shortly, you can see the en of evil, the cave, the shrines, even the stone formation in Stoney field. The Dark passage is exactly like those in the regard it shows up once you discover it.

Not all areas are the same, and especially true for the UP. Most of the times it’s by the rock wall, but sometime it’s actually a cave in the middle of the map (same as den) so that’s probably what it was.
In 20 years never experienced this, and you’re the first person that I’ve ever seen it happen to. My guess is you didn’t look hard enough, sometimes the exits blend well into the map.
A similar thing happened when I was looking for the ancient tunnels entrance the other day. I literally searched every place on the entire map and it wasn’t there.
I posted screens, and have talked around enough , and confirmed a few others claiming same. Rare as hell, for me personally, never experienced this in OG, but have in this version, just once.
Actually the bug you speak of is just procedural map drawing.
The map fails to draw the entrance/exit some times when you pass over it very quickly, i.e. teleport.
If you scan over the locations again, it’ll draw it.
Then there’s the problem with it actually rendering the entrance/exit, but doesn’t allow you to click it. Simply move away two screen spaces and go back to it, and it’ll be interactable again.
In rare ocasions the minimap and map wasn’t draw correctly. Keeping the previous template of the minimap also. Happened several times in the earlier days of d2r. Having a tetris map of the last 1-3 runs I had.
Also, sometimes the game just doesn’t render neither de minimap or show properly the exit/entrances. They got like “hidden” but passing the mouse would show their names.
Happened with me on those maps you quoted. If you actively pass the mouse through the terrain, would show the location. Also keep in mind that sometimes desync bug doesn’t show you the most actual state of the game. Requiring you to go back then, reach the place again.
The exit is in there, but is really hard to see. Neither minimap or nice visual clue about it. Just trying to find wally and you will find. Happened with me, on d2 I only that kind of issue on my old days with a ping like 12k, while offline never had any of those issues.
IN case none of you noticed, I have blue circles around all the shrines which proves I scoured the entire map.
it’s not in there and it’s not that it’s hard to see, and I didn’t miss anything, the game simply didn’t generate it. This isn’t the first time I’ve encountered this. The same thing happened in the maggot lair. Once you uncover the entire map opening the overhead map shows where the entrance and there was no entrance to level 2…the game simply didn’t generate it.
The problem can be solved by creating a new game which is what I did in both of these cases.
Considering the road leads directly through the Stony Field to the Underground Passage I for one would love to see a screenshot of the road just dead ending.
The underground passage was at the end of the road right above the stones, doesn’t look like you got close enough or you edited the image as there is a blank spot right there.
