Jah Rune Needs a Buff

Jah Runes Bonus are low for its rank

5% extra life in body armor and helmets / 50 life in shield is small

  • Propose change from +5% Bonus to Life to +15% Bonus to Life / 150 Life in Shields

ITD in weapons is limited. It does not function in PVP and exists on other lower cost weapons

  • Propose change from ITD to Unblockable and +175 to Attack Rating

5% Extra life in helmets and armor, and 50 life in shields is Low for the cost of Jah.

Lets say you have 4000 Life, Jah only gives you 200 more life. If you have less, such as 1000 life, Jah is practically a P Ruby…

vs

Compared to Bers - 8% physical damage (lets assume all physical hits for this example) every hit, jah loses.

Jah is better suited to an extra 15% Life in helmet and armor, and 150 Life in shield.

Ignores Targets Defense in weapons does not function in pvp, and is therefore a limited benefit. This is also found on uniques and runewords that do not require high ranking Jah to create.

Jah in weapons should be changed from “Ignores Targets Defense” to “unblockable” and some attack rating, such as +175 AR.

This way, under powered weapon rune words such as Last Wish, Famine, Destruction… would have a Good reason to use, despite lower damage than grief, etc. and there will even be use for uniques socketed with JAH.

Unblockable will not eliminate the need for attack rating as high defense remains a barrier (thus not destroy fools mod), but it will provide a big bonus and distinction over Ignores Targets Defense, which is found on less costly items.

You can stop your thread right there.

  1. You are limited to 50% of that resistance to physical damage.
  2. Physical resistance only applies to physical damage. Magic and elemental damage is not reduced.

I wonder if Sekscalibure is flexing his alt accounts.

Counter point. Ber needs a nerf to 5% DR.

Reasoning? Game too easy.

No

Ber needs buff to 12, or maybe even 15% so that it can assist in alternative item choices

Last Wish could use a small buff too maybe it’s true jah does need a buff.

Last Wish does indeed need a buff. Add these mods to it:
repairs 1 durability every 4 seconds
+50-100 damage (like grief’s +damage)

I mean it requires all those high runes. Why not make it comparable to all those other end game weapons in terms of damage? Especially when lifetap overlaps other curses like decrep or amp when you don’t want it to. The weapon itself should be stronger by some means. Though phase blades can’t be ethereal. Berserker axe however can be ethereal which wold be a great benefit for the other elite weapon bases.

Easy to fix that. Just nerf Grief.

Why do people wanna buff everything?

I say nerf everything down to give or take 2x the clear speed of a EBOTD WW barb at most, and go from there. At most Bowazon clear speed.

Game had become absolutely brain dead easy over the years of buffs.

Make rares and uniques powerful again … delete all runewords.

Jahs Ignore target defense in weapons is not very amazing, also. It does not function in pvp

Rather than “Ignores Targets Defense”, it should be “unblockable” and + attack rating ( Edit. changed suggestion from “always hits”)

This would provide legitimate reason to use expensive yet under powered rune words Last Wish, Famine, Destruction, etc. while not eliminating the need for attack rating / ignores targets defense.

Maybe Jah could be 8% instead of 5 and 100 health instead of 50 in shields. Would it be any better than ber? Maybe. Probably not.

This would make it over powered. “ITD” isn’t “always hits” since the highest hit chance you can have anyway is 95%, not to mention that ITD doesn’t work on act end bosses like Diablo. It would completely negate the necessity of other modifiers like -% target defense and the big one: attack rating. Imagine Fool’s would now be worthless compared to a 450% ecruels, because you could just put a Jah in it and BOOM… useless Fool’s.

PD2 fixed a lot of those issues. Blizz should allow for online mods. It would help d2r sales after d4 release.

Why would you want always hit on weapons on a Jah? That just makes it st**** that means no need for attack rating. I guess yay for bow zon then if i can shoot multiple arrows across the room and never miss. All the classes would just do zons. What they should fix are things like stack gems and runes, so i dont have to make 10 other characters to hold runes and more room to hold items. If anyone who played Project Diablo 2 then you would understand the things d2r needs to fix.

How about no. D2 is great because of runewords.

D3 and four should have implemented the cube and brought runewords back

That is exactly why you want Jah - a high level rune - to “always hit” - because it does not require attack rating.

The runewords using Jahs are all non eth, so youre gaining always hit function, while sacrificing damage. You can also gain some of that damage back by not needing to use 2 to 3 pieces of angelics jewelry.

Cruel Eth 2os Weapon with Jah and Zod would be quite good, though no damage modifiers, etc.

Jah being changed to always hit would also give reason to utilize some of the better, under powered uniques.

Fools would become a true fools weapon, in most cases. Throwing weapons would still benefit from fools ( which is a shame, they should become socketable )

Eth Rune, which provides negative targets defense, is a very low level and common rune compared to Jah. Therefore, in comparison, its purpose isn’t lost. Though, it should really be raised to 50% from 25%

Alternatively, Jah could provide “unblockable” rather than always hits / ITD ( to still consider for defense ) which would still be a big improvement in PVP and for Jah

If anything, Zod needs a buff

They should have a new recipe to help people do work in this game. Keep the game alive

  1. Zod can turn eth to non-eth and vice versa
  2. Make it a cube recipe with the standard of heroes, and an ear to do so.
  3. This would let people do more things to change their items to eth and non-eth.
  4. Make this work for set items as well.

The end result. Everyone and their moms will be fighting over a zod rune to change their sandstorm treks.

I personally think rune words are a nice addition, but as they are so much more potent than most uniques(definitely not going to argue that), I do very much agree that uniques and sets could use a buff (especially some of the more rare and lesser used ones)

I would also have to add that some rares are better then rune words (mostly to the spell casters) and some items like wets have seen some moderate buffs.

The challenge with any game, no matter how complex. It eventually gets “solved” after years and years of builds.

I’m also glad they aren’t making wild changes to suddenly make the game unplayable or the effort of getting a item only to have it nerfed after getting it.

It’s a balancing act, that they are currently doing, an okay job at. Room for improvement? Sure. But the reason why we have these conversations to begin with is because of our passion for this game.

Here’s a wild idea. What if they added another class or two to add new build ideas and more ways to enjoy going through the game?
