The fact that the mindless cookie cutter build can solo hell is a flaw that needs to be corrected… No self respecting player uses them because Hammerdins are slower then other classes but the fact that they can still solo everything with zero skill has made them way to popular among any noob able to piece together an Enigma.

Instead of nerfing, all classes need rebalancing to be stronger. This has been needed for the past 20 years and nothing has been done. Hopefully things will change at Blizzard now with D2R.

it took SO much work to get my paladin viable for hell. i had to run chaos runs (dying a lot and not strong enough to do act 5) until like level 85 before i found any gear and still i die in hell a lot and i’m pretty weathy sans enigma (the final piece). i’m level 92 with cta/hoto/shako/45res spirit/verdungo/torch/slc’s/etc and i still get DESTROYED in durance of hate and throne and every once in a while a cow will catch me off guard
oh and i still can’t even min/max my skill tree, either. i have to use 5 other auras to supplement my build otherwise i would be dead every game
I will not play a hammerdin, no desire. However, the fact that they are easy mode does not effect me. I do not think they should be nerfed.
I played one 15 years ago as a side character, but never as a main. I do have some experience.

I wouldn’t mind seeing some changes to balance but I don’t think anything really needs to be nerfed.
I’d start with adding some variety to items which I think they’re working on. Items make builds viable typically. Try following a hammerdin around that doesn’t have a nigma or even worse…mana regen! 
In D2R I have pat/matted a blizz sorc, blizzball sorc(on a second computer), bowazon, ww barb, fanatic zealot, and a fishymancer.
Currently I am working on a melee Sorc and a fury druid.
Historically, going back to the original D2 I have played almost every build through the game.

My pala is level 80 and I smack Travical in P8 games with no nigma.
I have shako and a Spirit monarch on with a crappy Smoke armor. Crappy rings and amulet.
The ONLY trouble I have is
- Running everywhere
- Fanat+might ARchers
Get a dwarf ring on and you can easily do chaos hell and Trav runs while afk watching netflix

I remember trying to play the first time through hell and it was awful. I took months playing single player self found.
Looking back I am surprised I did not give up.
Have you tried walking with vigor on? Easy fix. Why are you using a monarch on Paladin?

i’m about as low-skilled of a scrub as they come, and i can solo hell on any class, it doesn’t take a hammerdin.

I thought everyone were OP Sorcerers when D2R came out.
I am suppose to play a Zealot but somehow the internet is telling me to make a Hammerdin instead. I made one and I was disappointed to realize that it’s a Caster on Plate class. All weapons with powerful damage you see, all +1000 damage, + elemental damage buff you see… as in most of them are garbage when you are a Hammerdin. All you care is Fast Cast Rate. So boring. But what can I do? I wasted already my free specs change. So I have no choice but to live with its lackluster ability.
So I just played around its mechanics… abuse all the mobs/bosses in the game: Tomb Vipers, Stygian Dolls, Blood /Moon Lord, Succubus, Ghosts, Baal, Mephisto, Nihlathak and the Summoner… I just faceroll all of them with Blessed Hammers. ROFL. With all the loots/gold I got, I was able to gear up my Merc. Now my Rogue can faceroll Tomb Vipers as she outrange them as they die in range before they could get near to be able to hit us. ROFL.
Yeah, it’s easy to play Hammerdin especially with Controller. ROFL. Just toy around that joystick and everything melts. ROFL. But there are many stupids who still die on the game’s gimmicky fights using Hammerdin. A Hammerdin should not die of anything… as in anything at level 85. And you dont need Enigma as a Hammerdin. Hammerdin prefer to melt everything than to skip some mobs.

Also if you balance around hammerdin the game will be too easy if you dont add more difficult content with it
A good balance is take an optimal difficulty level, nerf the builds abovr that and buff the builds below that
