I died once and died a second time trying to get to the corpse so I just decided to leave the game and collect it in town but only items from the second body were found and items from the first disappeared and the most valuable was an Enigma on mage plate, harlequin crest, atmas scarab, windforce and a few other less important.
How do i get the first corpse back?
Is it all really gone for good? Because if so that kind of bug just killed the game for me.
The game only saves 1 corpse between games, usually the one with the highest gold value.
All other corpses including the stuff they hold are permanently lost.

Same as @ihhDeuTilt, my character died twice (trying to beat a boss), leaving 2 sets of armor/equipment on the ground. I restarted, expecting to get my first (and best/most expensive) set of equipment back:
- Malice flail
- TalTalTal flail
- Stealth armor
- Nadir helmet
- 2 nice rings and a nice amulet (one of which had a +5 life regen to offset Malice’s -5 degen)
- a nice belt (12 slots?) with a good Defense number
This did not happen, so I have to question how the game calculates armor/equipment value. I want my original equipment back, as it was MUCH better than the second set.
To what higher power do I need to appeal this injustice?
You knew beforehand that the game only saves 1 corpse between games. You had 2 corpses with gear(!) in the field, yet you got impationed by not trying to get at least 1 corpse back, took a gamble .. and lost. Who’s to blame here?
Excerpt from The Arreat Summit about Corpses:
If your character already has a corpse, another corpse (up to a maximum of 16) will be created and your most recently equipped items will remain with the new corpse. Be careful about equipping valuable equipment when you already have a corpse out in the field, if you exit a realm game with more than one corpse on the ground, only the corpse having the most valuable equipment (gold equivalent value) will be saved.
My point was exactly what you state: the corpse having the most valuable equipment… will be saved. The “gold equivalent value” of the gear on my first corpse was much higher than the second, unless runes have little value in the game’s “corpse computation.” Who’s to blame here?
The one who thought he’d calc better then the machine.
IMO, it’s more likely the algorithm designer/coder. But … back to the game.
