I’ve tried putting it in legacy mode, but that doesn’t do it.
under settings there is a ‘max fps’ you can set, I dropped mine to 100, I’ve seen others drop it to 60. It drastically lowers your GPU usage and keeps my fan from being louder than the speakers.
Yeah but with WoW for example I can set background fps to 15, so when I get up to make coffee and don’t want to shut the game down, I can just alt-tab and have my system get a break. I’m pretty sure D3 lets you do the same thing, been a bit since I’ve played it though.
If you have Nvidia you can also limit fps in settings globally for every game.
Setting the max FPS to your actual display’s refresh rate is always recommended. Add 1 to that number for vsync users so they can hit the refresh rate with a tiny bit of headroom (it’s a weird quirk of vsync on all platforms). So if your display is 60 Hz, having a higher framerate in the game only makes the CPU and GPU run hotter without actually giving you any more frames visually because the extra 40 frames is rendered but never displayed.
looks like only you understood what the topic creator ment lol. but yeah nvidia has an option to limit “BACKGROUND” fps. i havent tested yet if it works with Dx12 apps but its worth a shot
Yep it’s very cool that it can limit background fps as well
