Is The Internet Connection Neccessary?

In the character screen there is a tab that shows “OFFLINE” characters. I have no need for the internet when playing a solo game with an offline character. So why is it when my internet glitches, I get bumped out of the game and loose everything, and the game resets???
I absolutely hated Diablo III because of all the wasted play hours and frustrations that happened when you lost the internet connection mid session.
I absolutely do not want the same frustrations with the updated version of my all-time favourite game. I might as well just go back to playing the original version with it’s crappy graphics.
If there is not a way to play offline characters offline, then please, please, please implement it in the next patch. It is a real deal breaker for me as my local internet is unreliable.

Disconnect from the internet before you play.

Does that work? I’ll try it. Unfortunately that will affect my ability to receive messages from other apps.

I have tried to unplug the cable and launch the game via .exe file, offline worked just fine. But ofc it will affect other apps as you say.

When I click the game link it automatically launches battlenet. When I log out of battlenet it doesn’t allow me to play the game.

Launch it from your folder. There are two files - D2R and Diablo II Resurrected Launcher. Select the D2R file. Just tested this while I was logged out of the battle.net app.

This is the way to play offline after you’ve logged in once. You do still need to log in once every 30 days just to validate the installation, but as long as you’ve gone online with Battle.net once in the last 30 days you can launch from the folder with your internet connection disabled and you can play offline.

The Launcher launches the Battle.net Desktop option, and the D2R application launches the game client itself.

Very inconvenient. It does work, but it means I’ve got to disable my internet connection so no other programs can access the internet when I’m playing.
It should be easy to add an option in the game to play offline (by that I mean disconnect the game from battlenet and leave the computer itself online whilst the game itself plays offline).
Plus, if the game could disconnected itself then I would still be launching battlenet at startup and getting patches and such, and obviously doing the obligatory log in before starting the game. Once the game is started and I click the offline characters tab, it could ask “do you want to disconnect from battlenet.”.
