I am still on Normal mode Act 5.

Is It Wise To Use My Rare Runes Now? I cant find better Gear with sockets for it. Yup, I have Zero Magic Find on me for the last few days and I picked and browse all the normal gear loots that dropped on me.

I dont want to waste my only Rare Runes to make sockets on Horadric cube.

I am a Level 35 Paladin and I cant find a 3-socket War Scepter. Can I use it on a Grand Scepter or Flail for now and maybe I would get more of these runes in the future?

Can I use runes on a Gothic Shield or wait for better shields like Heraldic Shield? I already have Ancient’s Pledge anyway on the Heraldic Shield.

Can I use runes on Breastplate becoz I cant find better plates with 3 sockets?

For scepters you can use any 3 socket one. For shields you should try to search for a paladin specific shield as they have innate resist all or improved block chance. Since you’re level 35 you should be able to handle normal cows so you can search for socketed gear there.

Magic find does NOT help with rune drop, don’t be afraid to use ur runes … after all they are meant to be used.

El to Shael are fairly common. Use them as you wish.
Dol to Fal are also pretty common. Use them as you wish.
Lem to Ist are rare, but not extremely rare. Don’t waste them.
Gul to Zod are are very rare and you never, ever, want to waste them.

There are no rare runes in normal. You will have them in excess later. That said, your goal is to get dressed for nightmare. You probably want to get some sort of exceptional armor to put that hel lum fal in.

I can pretty much assure you that you don’t have any rare runes on normal mode act 5. Anything you have is most likely quite common on later difficulties, even if it seems rare in normal.

I would personally save runes for socket recipes for later and use it on better bases, but as said they are not exactly rare runes that go into those recipes. It would be no huge loss to try it a few times.

If you already have ancient’s pledge I would just wait.

You can get 3 socket breastplates pretty commonly from normal cows, I don’t think thats worth the runes.

I actually just found a superior breastplate with 3 sockets.

Yours if you want it, otherwise its going to a vendor.

I just got a War Sword 3 sockets. It became a “AmnRalThul” King’s Grace. Amn and Thul are rare on Normal. So I just used it anyway.

That’s a good one for early-mid nightmare to be sure.

Another good one if you can find a 5 socket base is Honor, but that is a bit harder to find in nightmare without resorting to Larzuk.

Amns and Thuls will be fairly common in nightmare and up, it was absolutely worth making something with them that will help you start in NM.

Did you want the 3 socket breastplate by the way? Kinda hurting for inventory space :cold_sweat:
