Hello everyone,
The goal here is to get feedback from people who farmed him a lot. This topic isn’t to talk about drop table and stuff. It’s more of a “what’s your feeling about Baal MF ?”.
As far as I’m concerned, I’m starting to have serious doubts about him being a good time investment. I’ve found more drops from both Meph and Andy using the exact same setup. Baalruns are great for XP but it seems he’s pretty bad for items. My current hypothesis is that if you want stuff you’re better to go farm a lvl 85 zone and avoid doing Baal.
What do you guys think ?
It depends on killing speed and how fast you can get there.
On my blizz sorc it is a better use of time than ancient tunnels now that I have upped my killing speed.
I have to abandon 1/4 of runs once I see what is in the throne room, however even with that wasted time it is still the best place to farm imo.
A tad more details would be appreciated. Stuff like “how many runs per good find on average ?”. Also, do you play offline ? A lot of people boast about their farming speed because they play offline with known map and such it’s easy to quickly teleport. Online, you gotta find him everytime. Takes a bit longer to do.
If you farm worldstone keep on the way to Baal, it is also an 85 zone.
If you don’t need the Xp from baals minions specifically, it is poor use of time—depending on your class.
There are a lot of variables, but it would be more efficient to farm up to his throne room and leave before the minions depending on if you are after runes etc.
If you are looking for items/hour, it’s going to be hard to beat: chaos, Pits, AT, trav, LK, Cow, Pindle etc.
@Sempuken – Well, then you seems to align with my current hypothesis that if one’s looking at item / hour baal isn’t the greatest. That is exactly what I’m looking to confirm… I might be wasting a lot of time… that would make me sad :\
Yeah!
In general, Baal is great cuz you are getting a high level zone, good XP and a great loot table, but if you start removing those benefits, like XP, suddenly there are better zones to get what you are after.
To be honest, I know I have pretty bad luck in general. So after about 500 baal kill the best he dropped is one Arachnid Mesh and Leviathan. I’m not complaining or anything, merely comparing what I got from Baal to what I got from Meph or Andy and it feels like wasted time. He might have an amazing drop table but if nothing drop it’s pointless.
I reallllly feel like Baal isn’t the way to go but before abandonning him completely I wanted to confirm with others here. As anyone doing MF knows, bad luck streak can happen.
Still, so little for 500 runs… it doesn’t feel like bad luck to me at this point.
It’s sad though because fighting the iconic bosses is fun. I’d love to farm Diablo too but he seems to be in the same boat as Baal. Great drop table but drop very little to nothing. Pretty dry.
i mean it depends on what peeps call good mf
to me i find effort vs reward
example I found nightmare Countess / Meph to be far more rewarding and far less effort vs Hell Countess which gave me bull, Yeah hell countess can give higher level runes but over-all i found much better stuff over-all with NM Countess and NM Mepg was just a bonus.
yes tech speaking hell bhaal if you can solo it and do it well can give good MF and such but
again effort vs reward
I sometimes find lower level bosses or even easyer diff to be far more rewarding just coz of the magic Item level they can drop
As Such, Hell Meph > Hell Bhaal if you ask me.
Oh I completely agree with your point THACO. Thing is, I didn’t mention “clear speed” in the OP because it’s kind of implied. You need to have the “proper clear speed” to do something efficiently.
I believe I meet that requirement for hell Baal. Of course, I’m nowhere near end-game meta Enigma and all that stuff but I still believe my clear speed to be sufficient.
That’s why I steered the conversation toward drop rate or, I could say, reward versus invested time.
the problem i have with that statement is
Meph on NM has a good item level range of items he can drop, So why not just do him super fast with high MF%?
problem is that yeah with lower MF there are better spots over-all.
I was farming baal by hosting private runs. My average kill was about 3 minutes per game. The only notable loot was 2 shakos. If you’re ever into crafting he always drops ilvl 99 stuff. That means any boots, gloves, or belts can be crafted into something good.
