I am aware that an excellent Japanese translation exists for Diablo II: Resurrected, but my current setup makes D2:R an impossibility. As it stands, D2 2000 is the version I can use. I’d like to play the game with Japanese text, and have already done some preliminary troubleshooting/searching for solutions:
- change the language via a data/local/use file ala h/ttps://d2mods.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19836 it’s an old solution and seems to require the language files already existing from a native Japanese CD
- install the Japanese version of the game with another locale’s web installer ala h/ttps://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/blizzard/t/diablo-2-lod-language-problem/47242/2 this works for various languages (Polish, Spanish, etc.) by changing the locale specified in the url, but an installer for ja_JP doesn’t seem to exist
- searched forums if a patcher exists to convert an English installation again, it seems that the language files can only come from a native Japanese CD
Going to customer service and requesting a Japanese version of the game seems to be the only available course of action, and I have a support ticket open with them. Thing is, they recommended I ask here. I really don’t think this is the place to find a translation download, but for posterity’s sake, I’m asking here. Any leads I’ve missed? Thanks.
