First all I love the upcoming changes. Especially the upcoming Merc changes. Im so excited about using finally an Act3 Merc for the first time.

but now there comes the big BUT.

I think Insight should be available for all Type of Mercs. The change for the possibility to make it in a Bow is really welcoming but I think it would make an Act3 Merc more viable if he gets the chance to have insight too. Insight is so important for some builds and if u for example playing a Singer Barb you need to have an Insight otherwise u running out of mana too quick and since as a Singer Barb you only have Physical DMG you would love to take an Merc that does Elemental DMG.

I really hope you guys think about making Insight in a Sword possible too.

Insight a3 merc would be great, love them too, please dev think about it :slight_smile:

take it one step further and make it available as a shield, just with different stats outside of meditation, like Spirit.

Honestly, all the A2 ā€œmercā€ runewords should be available on other weapons if they want to incentivize using different mercs

Infinity especially should be available at least on bows/crossbows and 2 handed swords and spears

If Insight was a helm it would make it so all mercs could use it. It would also be a viable option for the player at time.

It would also remove it as the go to weapon for all spear using ā€˜thingsā€™. As is Insight will be the only bow people use while leveling as the +Damage is too good for the runes.

While iā€™m all into makeing different things viable, or more like as desireable as other stuff. Iā€™m not a big fan of makeing things work the same. I mean this game was always about choices, chooseing one thing over the other, at the cost of haveing to give up on something in exchange.

I think the solution to the aura problem, is not to let everything have an aura, but to have different, but equaly or even more desireable ability. Letā€™s look at Plague RW, you can use it on an A3 or A5 mercenary, and it almost works as an Infinity. I would increas the chance to prock, and change the ā€œwhen struckā€ to ā€œon hitā€, to be even more desireable to use over Infinity. And elemental builds would be more than happy to hire an A3 merc that has the element, the player character lacks, and lower the res of monsters, some times even brakeing immunities.

Infinity on Rogue mercenary would be terrible, since sheā€™s constantly running away from enemies. And spears, while great for Amazon, have nothing to do with mercs.

No disrespect to the original designers of D2 and LoD but it looks like they either didnā€™t fully think through the mercs, or never finished the development of the mercs, or never intended anything beyond A2 mercs to be used. If the current devs really want to create the opportunities to use all of the merc types then they need to make gear (like Insight) available to all of them. Insight on 1h sword and shield for the A3 mercs at a minimum, and on stuff for Barb mercs.

I also agree with above, insight in a sword is not game breaking or overpowered, let all the mercā€™s carry one i guess, creates diversity.

I disagree with Altera that Spears have nothing to do with Mercs - actually Act 2 Merc can equip not only Polearms, but also Javs and Spears, so why not have the opportunity to put Infinity in Etheral Ghost Spear or War Pike for Act 2 Merc , same goes with other Polearm RWs where Act 2 Merc could use Eth Elite Spear for Pride, Obedience or Insight ā€¦

So many short sighted people here wanting even more power creepā€¦
Allowing insight for other mercs would mean the runeword could be put in a sword or shield. Do you think players would only put those on their mercs?
Youā€™d be making casters even stronger with infinite mana early on, mid game and possibly late game.
Bows and Polearms are really intended for merc use only. Iā€™d argue a bowazon could make actuve use of an insight on herself, a weapon which is much better than most bows found at that lvl, but that build isnā€™t top tier anyways. Bowazon and barb struggle the most untwinked.

I disagree with your view point. A3 and A5 Mercs could be much more useful with insight. To each their own.

I can buy ā€œInfinityā€ Mana pots or give my A2 merc a non elite Version polearm to get Insight erlier. Caster will prefer Spirit sword to use. But all opinions are welcome :slight_smile:
