For people wondering. There is already an unlimited respec method. You just have to work for it instead of the ability to respec being handed to you on a silver platter because you are too lazy to farm for the items needed to respec a character.
Leaving it alone also won’t ruin it.
just think it through a bit. lets say we have unlimited respecs. what would prevent me from respecing my sorc quickly to give everyone in my ladder reset team a 12 minute enchant and respecing back to a cold sorc. what would prevent my barb from respecing to a bo barb every 7 minutes to bo my party and going back? that would be way to OP.
What’s that? The whole level you’re doing is cold immune? No problem, just respect into fire. OMG… now everything is fire immune? Back to cold… good thing we got infinite respecs. WHAT? now everything is cold AND fire immune? Glad I can go pure lightning due to infinite respecs…

Neat little tidbit of info, BUT… according to that video, it’s only for Offline mode, which according to the so-called “experts” here, is not real D2.
I want D2 to be D3 too.
That is in single player. Who cares what you do in single player? Do whatever you want in single player. That is where you should be testing things…

I never understood people’s obsession (and stupidity) with needing so many respecs. Make an alt of the same class for whatever other spec you want to run. You can get to your mid 80’s with single digit hours of time effort. You can then play all of these specs whenever you want.
Someone doesn’t understand the concept of throttling or gating content. When you make infinite respecs instant the experience gets dulled down due to min max swapping everytime you change areas to farm something else. If everyone can be any spec at any time where’s the character identity? Respecs right now are at just the right amount of free respecs (one per difficulty) and then if you decide later you want to min max, well you have to do some boss farming for essences after acquiring gear that warrants a respec.
Remember when we could swap specs on the fly? How memorable were those specs in Diablo 3? You don’t remember because it was boring? Ah I see. End game in D2 also involves experimenting with new builds to see what works. The speed at which you do this is limited to make you appreciate major build changes.
You really only need 1 respec for each character but if you are playing a sorc you might want two.

I thought the OP was just going to be another repeat of pointing out the Tokens of Absolution, but then I clicked-through to the video, and it’s actually a command-line argument that grants unlimited respecs without any work.
I didn’t know the option existed before I saw the vid.
I just tested it on one of my characters, and it does work. No Token needed.
It supposedly only works for Offline characters, though, so for most people it won’t even matter.
Well that would be extremely tedious. Clicking thousands of times to reselect your skills and attributes for 1 single game would wear my fingers out.
