you would sell one to gheed in the gamble section and then can gamble sojs. people would have a massive amount of sojs from this. people said it got disabled but it might be back.
I don’t remember this. But tbh it sounds like it was either a glitch that was fixed, or a rumor to get newbs to sell their soj’s.
Sounds like you sold an soj for no reason. Pre LoD you could hold nagel and manald and then any unique ring was automatically SoJ. Gamble rate of uniques was much higher then, so this was a very easy way to generate SoJs by gambling. Not as easy as using D2Hackit to open a trade window with your own character and dupe the IDless items outright, but easy enough such that DClone idea was born.

I’m dead…this killed me…I’ve laughed until my heart stopped. Thank you.
The way uniques work in Diablo 2 and in D2R as well, is that you can get only one of a specific unique in any particular game. So if you get an SoJ in Game123, you can’t gamble any more of them. If you get a nice Blade of Ali Baba off NM Andariel (yes, she can drop that - it’s where I got mine), you could farm the rest of the game and not get another one to drop until you left the game and made Game124 or whatever.
There’s no magic to gambling in modern D2. It’s a 1:2000 chance to get any unique of the particular item class being gambled, and only one per game. Once you gamble a unique, you have to make a new game to get another chance at the same unique.
