In game “Trade house” for listing and messaging players

We need a way to list and browse other items so that trading can be done in the game and not on a website! This is not a auction house you can not buy or sell you simply link and list items but you can also look for items and simply just message the player. Think Poe trading system but do it better!

Simple you have the legend that is Gheed! You add the option Trade house or pick a better name and you simply list and browse at gheed (you could do this for any of NPCs who gamble)

Not sure how many items you would be allowed to put up for trade that would be for the Devs. But this is a good way to free up inventory space and instead of going to the trade forums here or other web sites it can be done in game like it should be!

No “we” don´t need this, I´m afraid.

Thats just not D2.

An in-game trading post would be nice. It would help clean up the game list of trade games.

Then again, unborking the lobby by categorizing the game list, “trade”, “pvp”, “pvm” etc would also help.

They couldn’t have done something like a trading post back in 2000… Computers simply weren’t mature enough to handle that kind of real-time database. These days, a database like that wouldn’t cause even an older server platform to break a sweat.

Buddy, modern Blizzard can’t even get a basic chat system working on their infrastructure, you think they’re skilled enough to do this? lmao.

That code for my forum gold is to much

would be nice. but too much dev work I suspect.

even with this in place other methods would still be utilized

All they really need to do here is add a “trade window” function in a Trade area (similar to Lobby) for people who are looking to trade in-game items. Make it separate from the game itself, make it where people can access the entirety of their Online account inventory directly, etc.

Then there’s no need for an “Auction House”, “offline/online updating”, etc. Give people the ability to trade directly from within a “chat gathering venue”. Then people who are only playing the game to “trade” can do so, and the people offloading their goods can do the same.

Bah… They could make it as simple and similar to the current trade window scheme…

Poster makes a trade post “Shako 4 offer”, puts Shako in the 4x10 trade window. The shako gets removed from the inventory/stash and put into the Trading post “hold”.

Anyone browsing clicks to view the post, they’re presented a view of the shako in the same 4x10 area, they can hover the mouse over the item and see its attributes, just like they can right now.

If the browser click the “offer” button or whatever, they are presented a 4x10 trade area, where they can then open their shared inventory, or the stash inventory of one of their characters. They can then place any items up to the max 4x10 space, and make the offer. The item(s) are then removed from the characters stash/shared stash and put into hold.

The poster comes back at a later time, can browse all of the offers and accept any one of them, or cancel the post. Any rejected offers are cancelled and along with a notification, the items are returned via an extra shared stash tab that is remove-only which will disappear once all items are removed from it.

In-game Market where you can offer and buy items, and a Trade-Gold currency that is for each Ladder is very much needed!

Kills that BS forum gold site and helps players with trades.

Exactly. Add Trade window to chat browser, done and done.

I’d even go as far as to include redundancy in accepting trades, too. That would alleviate the huge majority of complaints about “scams” etc.

I don’t understand people…
They are O.K. with using third party site, with fake currency, where they can be scamed,
They are O.K. with googling every single piece of information about some items.

But when someone wants to put that into game - it’s game breaking…

For me game breaking is the fact that I have to Alt Tab to do so many crap things…

Who do you think is saying this? THOSE THAT USE JSP! They don’t want an in-game trading post cutting in on their action!

That or they realize Blizzard would be incapable of doing a decent job of it?

Good job or not, them at least trying would be a step in the right direction.

I think it would cause more harm than good tbh, but to each their own.

Literally this company couldn’t even implement a simple chat structure so that you could talk to other players within an 8 player game. They decided it would be a good idea to direct link to chat lobbies, and broke every chat in the process. You really think they could pull of an in game trading lobby? lmao.

No thanks, let the professionals do it, jsp is clearly better than Blizzard could do.

Well the game is still in beta IMO, so who knows what will come at a later date. Time will tell. All one can do is hope for the best.

If an in-game trading post comes, great! If not, I’ll just keep doing what I’ve always done…

“item4item” games. :disappointed:

Sadly I think the game will likely be “in beta” for another year, maybe 5. WC3R is still in what I’d consider to be a beta state, lol.

You might be right about that. My guess is they’re probably piece by piece replacing the old 21+ year old code that simply won’t work with what they want to do with the game. I’m sure that task is a coding nightmare. Frankencoding.

Yeah Everquest is 22 years old and ever new expansion is well…… you take Everquest and Magic the gathering online another game that has been around 20 years you want frankencode……… imagine trying to fix an mmorpg from 1999 with 22 expansions worth of content one coming out nearly every year….

WCR didn’t sell enough copies and they clearly removed the entire development team from the project.

It’s not really that they can’t do it, it’s that they didn’t care (money) enough to do it. Need the Q4 report to get some insight into what the D2R care level might be.
