They add nothing fun to the game. You just teleport past them. It bottlenecks every single character into a specific set of builds and forces you to grind to gear out your mercenary a certain way. Again they aren’t hard. The first quest in Hell you are forced to skip because everything in the Den of Evil is cold immune, locking you out of your 3rd respec for a while. Being forced to just walk past an entire zone full of enemies because you literally can’t do a single point of damage to them isn’t hard or thought provoking, it’s lame and poor game design.
Yep, immune enemies are one of the most annoying things in this game, if not the most.
i like it. feels less brain dead than having 1 skill obliterate 100% of the game.
gives an impression of depth. might even make you think once or twice.
The whole game is just dated. There’s a reason it kinda died for 20 years, while games like Wc3 and Starcraft 1 still had solid followings.
And no, there weren’t as many people playing as they claimed were playing. They always say some stupid stat about ‘2,000 people online’. 1900 of them were bots, the other ones the neckbeards spending RM and forum gold to 1 up eachother’.
So are giant endless 0000000000’s on damage numbers and boss healths and player life pools, and on and on,
But nearly every modern game has 'em… for elongation and illusion. People seem to like that now adays.
I like the other days better.
Immunes add depth to the game. Sure they can get annoying, but that means you have to work on your merc and not just spam the “I win Button” every single game you create.
I disagree, I think they’re lazy game design. There are 100 better ways to improve the gameplay, make it more tactical, Doom Eternal is a great example for it - or Warcraft 3 with the different armor and damage types.
I don’t know what will make you think twice when all you do is see your immunity under a monsters name and left click past them. In fact that takes all would be danger/thinking out of it. When without immunities you would actually engage them with a chance of them killing you, instead you just instantly teleport past them.
it was meant to incentivize cooperative play so one specific build wouldn’t be the only character type that 90% of players used. try making a friend or building a mercenary
If there were no immunes, most people would have no reason to farm anywhere else beside The Pit in act 1. Why go to Ancient Tunnels in Act 2 or River of Flame in Act 4 if you can just spam run The Pit without any resistance in your way?
I think resistance in any form is good, but immunity is bad.
In Warcraft 3 for example, when you hit on middle armor with piercing damage, you do only small amounts of damage. But when you hit that armor with normal damage, you deal a lot more than with piercing.
I think that’s similar to resistance in Diablo, but immunity is just… meh. I think it’s lame.
Go two elements, or gear a merc, or play in a party.
The only thing wrong here is you built your character in a way that does not fit your own expectations.
What’s boring is all enemies all being the same and requiring no differing strategies to beat. D3 is already a cookie clicker game, why do you want D2 to be the same?
I thought they added immunities because sorcs were just too easy to plow through the game, and sounds like your playing a sorc so.
Hell wont be hell if you keep on face rolling everything. You have to prove yourself or else just go back to Nightmare mode. You are not welcome to Hell’s club if you cant pass these. ROFL.
There’s ways around the issue, LR wands etc.
Turns out Sorc has a weakness after all!
You could give them different abilities for example. Make them teleport around, some of them already can do that, or give them a temporary shield that heals them when you hit them with magic or physical, let them shoot fireballs at you, something like that.
Would be much more fun and you need much more brainpower than “This guy is immune I need to skip him”
Oh no, the game has some difficulty…
All these limitations force me to play other classes. The sorc for ease, get to places, get setup, bonemancer for easier hell farming, cheap zeal for dclone… otherwise each character can do everything and we are just mindlessly exploding everything in front of us.
But that’s me.
I played offline SP for 20 years no ladder rune words all self found gear and managed to finish hell without the need to skip any immune monsters. Took a long time. Farming wasn’t something I could do and only aimed for killing hell Baal. It got progressively easier as I found certain uniques and runes.
